Abstract

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed for wear noise audio signature suppression. An example method disclosed herein includes generating an audio signature based on a media audio signal during a first time period, collecting acceleration data during the first time period, determining whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise having occurred during the first time period, and in response to determining the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise during the first time period, inhibiting transmission of the audio signature to a central facility.

Claims (32)

1. An apparatus comprising:

an audio signature generator to generate an audio signature based on a media audio signal during a first time period;

an accelerometer to collect acceleration data during the first time period;

a wear noise analyzer to determine whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise having occurred during the first time period; and

a transmitter to, in response to the wear noise analyzer determining the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise during the first time period, inhibit transmission of the audio signature to a central facility.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the transmitter is to, in response to the wear noise analyzer determining the acceleration data does not correspond to wear noise during the first period, transmit the audio signature to the central facility.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the wear noise analyzer is to determine whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise when the acceleration data exceeds a threshold or the wear noise corresponds to a motion pattern.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the wear noise analyzer includes a historical wear noise analyzer to compare the acceleration data to historical acceleration data to determine whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise.

5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the historical wear noise analyzer determines a motion pattern for a user based on the historical acceleration data, the motion pattern matching an acceleration profile for the user that was generated during a time of known wear noise.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is a wearable device.

7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the wearable device is worn by a user by being carried on a wrist, a hand, a belt, carried in a pocket, or carried on a pendant.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the audio signature generator is to generate the audio signature for the media audio signal during the first time period in response to the wear noise analyzer determining the acceleration data does not correspond to wear noise during the first time period.

9. A computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause at least one processor to:

generate an audio signature based on a media audio signal during a first time period;

collect acceleration data during the first time period;

determine whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise having occurred during the first time period; and

in response to determining the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise during the first time period, inhibit transmission of the audio signature to a central facility.

10. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to, in response to determining the acceleration data does not correspond to wear noise during the first period, transmit the audio signature to the central facility.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to determine whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise when the acceleration data exceeds a threshold or the wear noise corresponds to a motion pattern.

12. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to compare the acceleration data to historical acceleration data to determine whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise.

13. The computer readable storage medium of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to determine a motion pattern for a user based on the historical acceleration data, the motion pattern matching an acceleration profile for the user that was generated during a time of known wear noise.

14. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to generate the audio signature for the media audio signal during the first time period in response to determining the acceleration data does not correspond to wear noise during the first time period.

15. A method comprising:

generating an audio signature based on a media audio signal during a first time period;

collecting acceleration data during the first time period;

determining whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise having occurred during the first time period; and

in response to determining the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise during the first time period, inhibiting transmission of the audio signature to a central facility.

16. The method of claim 15 , further including, in response to determining the acceleration data does not correspond to wear noise during the first period, transmitting the audio signature to the central facility.

17. The method of claim 15 , further including determining whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise when the acceleration data exceeds a threshold or the wear noise corresponds to a motion pattern.

18. The method of claim 15 , further including comparing the acceleration data to historical acceleration data to determine whether the acceleration data corresponds to wear noise.

19. The method of claim 18 , further including determining a motion pattern for a user based on the historical acceleration data, the motion pattern matching an acceleration profile for the user that was generated during a time of known wear noise.

20. The method of claim 15 , further including generating the audio signature for the media audio signal during the first time period in response to determining the acceleration data does not correspond to wear noise during the first time period.
