Abstract

Embodiments of golf club heads, golf clubs, and methods to manufacture golf club heads and golf clubs are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion comprising a first material. The body portion may have a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a back portion, a front portion having a face portion. The golf club head may include an interior cavity partially, substantially, or entirely filled with a first filler material and a second filler material. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

Claims (49)

1. A method comprising:

forming a face portion of a golf club head;

forming a body portion of the golf club head, the body portion having a toe portion, a hosel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a front portion, a back portion with a back wall portion, and an interior cavity between the toe portion, the hosel portion, the sole portion, and the front portion;

filling a first cavity portion of the interior cavity with a first filler material;

attaching the face portion to the front portion of the body portion to enclose the interior cavity; and

injecting the second filler material into a second cavity portion of the interior cavity,

wherein the first cavity portion is filled with the first filler material before the face portion is attached to the body portion,

wherein forming the body portion includes forming at least one recessed portion defining a portion of the interior cavity,

wherein a center portion of the at least one recessed portion includes a maximum width of the interior cavity, and

wherein the center portion includes the first cavity portion of the interior cavity.

2. A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein filling the first cavity portion of the interior cavity with the first filler material comprises coupling the first filler material to the back wall portion of the body portion.

3. A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first filler material comprises at least one different material property than the second filler material.

4. A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein attaching the face portion to the front portion comprises welding the face portion to the front portion.

5. A method as defined in claim 1 , wherein forming the body portion comprises forming a port in the body portion, and wherein injecting the second filler material into the second cavity portion of the interior cavity comprises injecting the second filler material through the port.

6. A method comprising:

forming a face portion of a golf club head;

forming a body portion of the golf club head, the body portion having a toe portion, a hosel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a front portion, a back portion with a back wall portion, and a plurality of recessed portions defining the interior cavity, and the plurality of recessed portions comprising:

a first recessed portion including a center of the body portion,

a plurality of second recessed portions at least partially surrounding the first recessed portion, and

a plurality of third recessed portions at least partially surrounding the plurality of second recessed portions and being adjacent to a perimeter of the body portion;

filling the first recessed portion with a first filler material;

attaching the face portion to the front portion of the body portion to enclose the interior cavity; and

injecting the second filler material into the interior cavity to fill in between the first filler material and the face portion.

7. A method as defined in claim 6 , wherein the first filler material comprises at least one different material property than the second filler material.

8. A method as defined in claim 6 , wherein attaching the face portion to the front portion comprises welding the face portion to the front portion.

9. A method as defined in claim 6 , wherein the first recessed portion of the plurality of recessed portions includes a maximum width of the interior cavity.

10. A method as defined in claim 6 , wherein a width of the interior cavity decreases from the first recessed portion of the plurality of recessed portions toward the third recessed portions of the plurality of recessed portions.

11. A method as defined in claim 6 , wherein forming the body portion comprises forming a port in at least one of the third recessed portions of the plurality of recessed portions, and wherein injecting the second filler material into the interior cavity comprises injecting the second filler material through the port.

12. A method as defined in claim 6 , wherein the first recessed portion of the body portion is filled with the first filler material before attaching the face portion to the body portion.

13. A method comprising:

forming a face portion of a golf club head;

forming a body portion of the golf club head, the body portion having a toe portion, a hosel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a front portion, a back portion with a back wall portion having an inner back wall portion and an outer back wall portion, and an interior cavity;

filling at least 50% of the interior cavity with a first filler material, the first filler material coupling to a substantial portion of the inner back wall portion;

attaching the face portion to the front portion of the body portion to enclose the interior cavity, and

injecting the second filler material into the interior cavity to fill the interior cavity to fill in between the first filler material and the face portion.

14. A method as defined in claim 13 , wherein the first filler material comprises at least one different material property than the second filler material.

15. A method as defined in claim 13 , wherein attaching the face portion to the front portion comprises welding the face portion to the front portion.

16. A method as defined in claim 13 , wherein the interior cavity is at least partially filled with the first filler material before attaching the face portion to the body portion.

17. A method as defined in claim 13 , wherein a center portion of the interior cavity comprises a maximum width of the interior cavity and includes the first filler material and the second filler material.

18. A method as defined in claim 13 , wherein forming the body portion comprises forming a port connected to the interior cavity, and wherein injecting the second filler material into the interior cavity comprises injecting the second filler material into the interior cavity through the port.

19. A method comprising:

forming a face portion of a golf club head;

forming a body portion of the golf club head, the body portion having a toe portion, a hosel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a front portion, a back portion with a back wall portion, and an interior cavity between the toe portion, the hosel portion, the sole portion, and the front portion;

filling a first cavity portion of the interior cavity with a first filler material;

attaching the face portion to the front portion of the body portion to enclose the interior cavity; and

injecting the second filler material into a second cavity portion of the interior cavity,

wherein the first cavity portion is filled with the first filler material before the face portion is attached to the body portion,

wherein forming the body portion includes forming at least one recessed portion defining a portion of the interior cavity, and

wherein a width of the interior cavity decreases from a center portion of the at least one recessed portion toward another portion of the at least one recessed portion adjacent a perimeter of the body portion.
