Abstract

A system for decoding a video bitstream includes receiving a bitstream and a plurality of enhancement bitstreams together with receiving a video parameter set and a video parameter set extension. The system also receives an output layer set change message including information indicating a change in at least one output layer set.

Claims (18)

1. A method for decoding a video bitstream comprising:

(a) receiving a base bitstream representative of a coded video sequence;

(b) receiving a plurality of enhancement bitstreams representative of said coded video sequence;

(c) receiving a video parameter set containing syntax elements that apply to said base bitstream and said plurality of enhancement bitstreams, wherein said video parameter set contains a first syntax element signaling a video parameter set extension;

(d) receiving said video parameter set extension containing syntax elements related to at least one of said enhancement bitstreams, wherein the syntax elements comprise a second syntax element indicating a number of output layer sets specified for the video bitstream; and

(e) receiving syntax elements indicating a change in at least one of the output layer sets, wherein:

the syntax elements indicating the change in said at least one of the output layer sets comprise a third syntax element indicating a number of additional layer sets for which output layers are specified in addition to the number of layer sets specified for the video bitstream indicated by the second syntax element for which output layers are specified.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the syntax elements indicating the change in said at least one of the output layer sets are included in the video parameter set extension.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the syntax elements indicating the change in said at least one of the output layer sets are included in an output layer set change message.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein said output layer set change message is a supplemental enhancement information (SEI) message.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein said output layer set change message includes a fourth syntax element removing one of said at least one of the output layer sets.

6. The method of claim 3 wherein said output layer set change message includes a fourth syntax element adding an output layer set to said at least one of the output layer sets.

7. The method of claim 3 wherein said output layer set change message includes a fourth syntax element changing an output layer set of said at least one of the output layer sets.

8. The method of claim 5 wherein said output layer set change message includes a fifth syntax element adding an output layer set to said at least one of the output layer sets.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein said output layer set change message includes a sixth syntax element changing an output layer set of said at least one of the output layer sets.

10. The method of claim 6 wherein said output layer set change message includes a fifth syntax element changing an output layer set of said at least one of the output layer sets.

11. The method of claim 7 wherein said output layer set change message includes a fifth syntax removing one of said at least one of the output layer sets.

12. The method of claim 1 wherein syntax elements indicating the change in said at least one of the output layer sets comprises a fourth syntax element identifying the additional layer sets and a flag indicating whether a particular layer is a target output layer.
