UNIQUE DOCUMENTS DETERMINATION
Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a method for processing computer readable electronic files in an investigation in a computer system including a processor coupled to a display and an electronic storage device coupled to the processor. The method includes the processor accessing the electronic files and related data from a data source. The accessed files and related data are culled by the processor based on predetermined filter criteria. The processor stores the remaining files and related data in a third-party data repository and maps a set of electronic files and related data stored in the third-party data repository into a predetermined database schema. The mapped files and related data are analyzed by the processor, which applies a status decision on them. The analyzed electronic files and related data are submitted to a third-party e-discovery processing application based on the applied status decision.

A method of conduct a search employing a computer system including at least one processor, at least one electronic storage device coupled to the at least one processor and at least one display coupled to the at least one processor, the at least one storage device storing a collection of electronic, computer readable files to be searched, the method comprising:
the at least one processor receiving a plurality of search terms and/or electronic file metadata elements to be searched;
the at least one processor conducting a search in the electronic files for each search term and/or metadata element;
the at least one processor determining a number of electronic files including each search term and/or metadata element and a number of electronic files including each search term and/or metadata element and no other of the search terms or metadata elements; and
the at least one processor causing the numbers to be displayed on the at least one display.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein:
the at least one processor also determines the size of electronic files including each search term and/or metadata element and a size of electronic files including each search term and/or metadata element and no other of the search terms or metadata elements; and
the at least one processor causing the sizes to be displayed on the at least one display.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the at least one processor determines electronic files linked to electronic files responsive to the search and including the number of linked files in the display.
4 . A computer system for conducting a search comprising:
at least one processor;
at least one electronic storage device coupled to the at least one processor; and
at least one display coupled to the at least one processor, the at least one storage device storing a collection of electronic, computer-readable files to be searched, wherein:
the at least one processor receives a plurality of search terms and/or electronic file metadata elements to be searched;
the at least one processor conducts a search in the electronic files stored in the at least one storage device for each search term and/or metadata element;
the at least one processor determines a number of electronic files including each search term and/or metadata element and a number of electronic files including each search term and/or metadata element and no other of the search terms or metadata elements; and
the at least one processor causes the numbers to be displayed on the at least one display.
5 . The system of claim 4 wherein:
the at least one processor determines the size of electronic files including each search term and/or metadata element and a size of electronic files including each search term and/or metadata element and no other of the search terms or metadata elements; and
the at least one processor causing the sizes to be displayed on the at least one display device.
6 . The system of claim 4 wherein the at least one processor determines files linked to files responsive in each search; and
the at least one processor causes the numbers of linked files to be displayed on the display.
