SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY AND ACTIGRAPHY DATA PROCESSING WITH THE AID OF A DIGITAL COMPUTER
A system and method for electrocardiography and actigraphy data processing with the aid of a digital computer are provided. Samples of actigraphy event occurrences and samples of electrocardiographic signals are retrieved from a memory of a physiological monitor, wherein the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences are embedded among the samples of the electrocardiographic signals based on a time associated each of the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences and a time associated with each of the samples of the electrocardiographic signals. An actionable actigraphy event occurrence is identified from the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences. Those samples of the electrocardiographic signals that were sensed substantially concurrent to a time of the occurrence of the actionable actigraphy event are identified based on the embedding. The actionable event occurrence and the samples of the electrocardiographic signals that were identified are output.
1 . A system for electrocardiography and actigraphy data processing with the aid of a digital computer, comprising:
a server computer system centrally accessible over a data communications network and comprising a processor configured to execute program code stored in a memory, the processor configured to:
retrieve samples of actigraphy event occurrences and samples of electrocardiographic signals from a memory of a physiological monitor, wherein the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences are embedded among the samples of the electrocardiographic signals based on a time associated each of the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences and a time associated with each of the samples of the electrocardiographic signals;
identify using one or more criteria an actionable actigraphy event occurrence from the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences;
identify those samples of the electrocardiographic signals that were sensed substantially concurrent to a time of the occurrence of the actionable actigraphy event based on the embedding of one or more of the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences associated with the actionable event occurrence ; and
output the actionable event occurrence and the samples of the electrocardiographic signals that were identified.
2 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the actionable event occurrence is flagged for a follow-up by a physician.
3 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the actionable event occurrence is one of sleep, awake, hyperactivity, and falling.
4 . A system according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a patient management program executed by the server computer system configured to store the samples of the electrocardiographic signals and the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences into a secure database using the data communications network; and
the secure database interconnected to the data communications network and operable to maintain the samples of the electrocardiographic signals on behalf of the server computer system.
5 . A system according to claim 4 , further comprising:
a subscription service configured to control authorization of a duration of an operation of the physiological monitor and parameters of the operation.
6 . A system according to claim 1 , the processor further configured to:
retrieve additional physiological data from the physiological monitor;
time-correlate the additional physiological data with the samples of the electrocardiographic signals; and
output the time-correlated additional physiological data.
7 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the additional physiological data comprises one or more of SpO 2 data, blood pressure data, temperature data, glucose data, airflow data, and volumetric pressure data.
8 . A system according to claim 1 , the processor further configured to:
output one or more of a time of the actionable actigraphy event, a duration of the actionable actigraphy event, and a nature of the actionable actigraphy event.
9 . A system according to claim 8 , wherein the actionable actigraphy event comprises a fall and the nature of the actionable actigraphy event comprises intensity of the fall.
10 . A system according to claim 1 , wherein the physiological monitor comprises a monitor recorder comprising an actigraphy sensor and a disposable patch comprising a pair of electrocardiography electrodes and a pair of circuit traces via which the electrocardiography electrodes are interfaced to the monitor recorder.
11 . A method for electrocardiography and actigraphy data processing with the aid of a digital computer, comprising the steps of:
retrieving by a server computer system, the server computer system centrally accessible over a data communications network and comprising a processor configured to execute program code stored in a memory, samples of actigraphy event occurrences and samples of electrocardiographic signals from a memory of a physiological monitor, wherein the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences are embedded among the samples of the electrocardiographic signals based on a time associated each of the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences and a time associated with each of the samples of the electrocardiographic signals;
identifying by the server computer system using one or more criteria an actionable actigraphy event occurrence from the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences;
identifying by the server computer system those samples of the electrocardiographic signals that were sensed substantially concurrent to a time of the occurrence of the actionable actigraphy event based on the embedding of one or more of the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences associated with the actionable event occurrence; and
outputting by the server computer system the actionable event occurrence and the samples of the electrocardiographic signals that were identified.
12 . A method according to claim 11 , wherein the actionable event occurrence is flagged for a follow-up by a physician.
13 . A method according to claim 11 , wherein the actionable event occurrence is one of sleep, awake, hyperactivity, and falling.
14 . A method according to claim 11 , further comprising the steps of:
storing by a patient management program executed by the server computer system the samples of the electrocardiographic signals and the samples of the actigraphy event occurrences into a secure database using the data communications network; and
maintaining by the secure database interconnected to the data communications network the samples of the electrocardiographic signals on behalf of the server computer system.
15 . A method according to claim 14 , further comprising the step of:
controlling by a subscription service authorization of a duration of an operation of the physiological monitor and parameters of the operation.
16 . A method according to claim 11 , further comprising the step of:
retrieving by the server computer system additional physiological data from the physiological monitor;
time-correlating by the server computer system the additional physiological data with the samples of the electrocardiographic signals; and
outputting by the server computer system the time-correlated additional physiological data.
17 . A method according to claim 11 , wherein the additional physiological data comprises one or more of SpO 2 data, blood pressure data, temperature data, glucose data, airflow data, and volumetric pressure data.
18 . A method according to claim 11 , further comprising the step of:
outputting by the server computer system one or more of a time of the actionable actigraphy event, a duration of the actionable actigraphy event, and a nature of the actionable actigraphy event.
19 . A method according to claim 18 , wherein the actionable actigraphy event comprises a fall and the nature of the actionable actigraphy event comprises intensity of the fall.
20 . A method according to claim 11 , wherein the physiological monitor comprises a monitor recorder comprising an actigraphy sensor and a disposable patch comprising a pair of electrocardiography electrodes and a pair of circuit traces via which the electrocardiography electrodes are interfaced to the monitor recorder.
