Abstract

A method of providing visual feedback to a driver based on data collected during vehicle operation. A processor at the vehicle analyzes vehicle data and determines when predetermined threshold values have been reached for particular parameters. Whenever such a threshold is reached, an audible indication is provided to the driver, indicating that the baseline has been exceeded. Certain parameters have at least two threshold values. When a first threshold value is reached, an alert is presented to the driver, but no data is recorded or reported. When a second threshold value is reached, another alert is presented to the driver, and data is recorded for reporting to a driver manager or supervisor. This approach provides a driver warning, that if they correct the triggering behavior, their supervisor is never notified of that behavior. However, if the behavior escalates, and the second threshold is breached, the behavior is recorded.

Claims (9)

1. An in-vehicle display assembly, comprising:

a) a controller;

b) a non-transitory physical memory, storing machine instructions that define one or more applications;

c) a display screen, controlled by the controller, executing the machine instructions; and

d) wherein the controller displays, to a driver of the vehicle while the driver is driving the vehicle, a map and an information pane on the display screen, wherein the information pane provides driver feedback via at least one of text and a plurality of icons, wherein the at least one of the text and the plurality of icons indicate a plurality of types of driver feedback selected from the group consisting of: successful driver login, driver warning regarding lower idle threshold exceeded, alert sent to fleet supervisor regarding upper idle threshold exceeded, driver warning regarding lower speed threshold exceeded, alert sent to fleet supervisor regarding upper speed threshold exceeded, and alert sent to fleet supervisor regarding hard braking threshold exceeded.

2. The in-vehicle display assembly of claim 1 , wherein the map is adjacent to the information pane, on the display screen.

3. The in-vehicle display assembly of claim 2 , wherein the map is horizontally adjacent to the information pane.

4. The in-vehicle display assembly of claim 1 , wherein the display screen is a touch screen.

5. The in-vehicle display assembly of claim 1 , wherein the controller displays an alert, on the information pane to inform the driver that he has exceeded a limit.
