Patient Support with Stand-Up and Sit Features
A bed is provided having a base frame, a patient support assembly connected to the base frame, and a tilt frame connected between the base frame and the patient support assembly. The tilt frame is rotatable adjacent the foot end of the bed to place the patient support assembly, including the head section, seat section and foot section thereof, in a generally vertical position to allow a patient to exit the bed in a standing orientation. The bed also has a foot board assembly connected to the foot section, the foot board assembly having a foot board separately moveable about a longitudinal axis of the bed toward the head end and the foot end of the bed.
1 . A patient support tilt bed, comprising;
a base frame;
a patient support assembly connected to the base frame, the patient support assembly having a separate moveable head section, seat section, and foot section, wherein the head section is adjacent a head of the bed, the foot section is adjacent a foot end of the bed, and the seat section is located between the head section and foot section, the patient support assembly being rotatable adjacent the foot end of the bed to place the patient support assembly, including the head section, the seat section, and the foot section, in a tilted position to allow a patient to be positioned in a substantially standing orientation greater than 30 degrees; and
the patient support assembly further including a rotational mattress provided on the head section, the seat section, and the foot section, wherein the rotational mattress includes a turning bladder kit with a plurality of rotational bladders that provide rotational capabilities to the rotational mattress by inflating and deflating the plurality of rotational bladders in the turning bladder kit.
2 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of rotational bladders includes two independent turning bladders for the head section and two independent bladders for the seat section.

The patient support tilt bed of claim 2 , wherein the two independent turning bladders for the head section include a first side head rotation bladder and a second side head rotation bladder and the two independent turning bladders for the seat section include a first side seat rotation bladder and a second side seat rotation bladder.
4 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 1 , wherein the turning bladder kit includes a bottom encasement that mates with a top encasement to enclose the turning bladder kit.
5 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 1 , wherein a cross-sectional geometry of the plurality of rotational bladders is generally circular.
6 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 1 , wherein a cross-sectional geometry of the plurality of rotational bladders is generally triangular.
7 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 1 , wherein the rotational mattress includes a low air loss and alternating bladder system that includes a plurality of independent low air loss and alternating pressure mattress sections that extend a width of the bed.
8 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 7 , wherein the plurality of independent low air loss and alternating pressure mattress sections include a foam member placed inside a bladder filled with air.
9 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 8 , wherein the foam member includes two separate foam portions, with a gap between the two foam portions in the middle of the plurality of independent low air loss and alternating pressure mattress sections.
10 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 9 , wherein the bladder includes a notch to facilitate rotation of the plurality of independent low air loss and alternating pressure mattress sections at the head section and the seat section.
11 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 1 , wherein the rotational mattress provides dynamic alternating pressure capabilities by alternating inflating and deflating a plurality of different air cells periodically.
12 . A patient support tilt bed, comprising;
a base frame;
a patient support assembly connected to the base frame, the patient support assembly having a separate moveable head section, seat section, and foot section, wherein the head section is adjacent a head of the bed, the foot section is adjacent a foot end of the bed, and the seat section is located between the head section and foot section, the patient support assembly being rotatable adjacent the foot end of the bed to place the patient support assembly, including the head section, the seat section, and the foot section, in a tilted position to allow a patient to be positioned in a substantially standing orientation greater than 30 degrees; and
the patient support assembly further including a rotational mattress provided on the head section, the seat section, and the foot section, wherein the rotational mattress includes a turning bladder kit with a plurality of rotational bladders that provide rotational capabilities to the rotational mattress by inflating and deflating the plurality of rotational bladders in the turning bladder kit, wherein the plurality of rotational bladders includes two independent turning bladders for the head section that include a first side head rotation bladder and a second side head rotation bladder and two independent bladders for the seat section that include a first side seat rotation bladder and a second side seat rotation bladder, wherein the rotational mattress provides dynamic alternating pressure capabilities by alternating inflating and deflating a plurality of different air cells periodically.
13 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 12 , wherein the turning bladder kit includes a bottom encasement that mates with a top encasement to enclose the turning bladder kit.
14 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 12 , wherein the rotational mattress includes a low air loss and alternating bladder system that includes a plurality of independent low air loss and alternating pressure mattress sections that extend a width of the bed.
15 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 14 , wherein the plurality of independent low air loss and alternating pressure mattress sections include a foam member placed inside a bladder filled with air.
16 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 15 , wherein the foam member includes two separate foam portions, with a gap between the two foam portions in the middle of the plurality of independent low air loss and alternating pressure mattress sections.
17 . The patient support tilt bed of claim 16 , wherein the bladder includes a notch to facilitate rotation of the plurality of independent low air loss and alternating pressure mattress sections at the head section and the seat section.
18 . A patient support tilt bed, comprising;
a base frame;
a patient support assembly connected to the base frame, the patient support assembly having a separate moveable head section, seat section, and foot section, wherein the head section is adjacent a head of the bed, the foot section is adjacent a foot end of the bed, and the seat section is located between the head section and foot section, the patient support assembly being rotatable adjacent the foot end of the bed to place the patient support assembly, including the head section, the seat section, and the foot section, in a tilted position to allow a patient to be positioned in a substantially standing orientation greater than 30 degrees; and
the patient support assembly further including a rotational mattress provided on the head section, the seat section, and the foot section, wherein the rotational mattress includes a turning bladder kit with a plurality of rotational bladders that provide rotational capabilities to the rotational mattress by inflating and deflating the plurality of rotational bladders in the turning bladder kit, wherein the plurality of rotational bladders includes two independent turning bladders for the head section that include a first side head rotation bladder and a second side head rotation bladder and two independent bladders for the seat section that include a first side seat rotation bladder and a second side seat rotation bladder, wherein the rotational mattress provides dynamic alternating pressure capabilities by alternating inflating and deflating a plurality of different air cells periodically,
