Abstract

Systems and methods for providing real-time services for wearables. One or more remote computing devices execute at least one microservice. A wearable computing device executes at least one system service that corresponds to each microservice. A master service of the wearable computing device consolidates communications between microservices and system services.

Claims (41)

1. A system for providing real-time services, the system comprising:

a wearable computing device comprising a memory and a processor, the processor configured to execute a system service corresponding to a respective microservice of a microservice of a remote computing device based on a preconfigured service configuration configured between the system service and the respective microservice for handling a first subset of operations at the wearable computing device and a second subset of operations at the remote computing device,

the system service including a location service and the microservice including a location microservice, wherein the location service is configured to query a host computing device over a personal area network for an estimated location, and wherein the host computing device is communicatively coupled to the remote computing device via a data communication network, and

the wearable computing device configured to transfer data associated with the first subset of operations to the remote computing device based on the preconfigured service configuration, and the processor of the wearable computing device configured to provide a master service that consolidates data output from the system service of the wearable computing device for output on the wearable computing device.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the remote computing device is configured to provide a gateway service that consolidates data communications between the microservice and the master service.

3. The system of claim 2 , further comprising:

the host computing device that comprises a second memory and a second processor; and

the personal area network,

the host computing device configured to provide:

a host personal area network service that data communicatively couples the wearable computing device and the host computing device via the personal area network;

a host network service that data communicatively couples the host computing device and the remote computing device via the data communication network; and

a host routing service that routes communications between the remote computing device and the master service of the wearable computing device via the personal area network and the data communication network.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the host routing service routes communications between the master service and the gateway service.

5. The system of claim 3 , wherein the wearable computing device is configured to provide:

a data routing service that emulates a network socket interface for a program executed by the processor of the wearable computing device.

6. The system of claim 3 , wherein the wearable computing device is configured to provide:

a personal area network service that data communicatively couples the wearable computing device and the host computing device via the personal area network.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system service comprises a navigation service and the microservice comprises a navigation microservice.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the navigation service is configured to determine a navigation route using the navigation microservice.

9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the navigation service is configured to retrieve a map for output on the wearable computing device using the navigation microservice.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the location service is configured to determine an estimated location of the wearable computing device and to update the location microservice with the estimated location.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the output is provided in a display of the wearable computing device.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the output is provided in a haptic output device of the wearable computing device.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the output is provided in a speaker of the wearable computing device.

14. A wearable computing device comprising:

a processor; and

a memory coupled to the processor, the processor and the memory configured to:

execute a system service corresponding to a microservice of a remote computing device based on a preconfigured service configuration configured between the system service and the microservice for handling a first subset of operations at the wearable computing device and a second subset of operations at the remote computing device, the system service comprising a location service and the microservice comprising a location microservice, wherein the location service queries a host computing device for an estimated location of the host computing device;

responsive to the location service querying the host computing device, receive the estimated location of the host computing device from the host computing system;

determine an estimated location of the wearable computing device based on the estimated location of the host computing device;

transfer data associated with the first subset of operations to the remote computing device based on the preconfigured service configuration; and

provide a master location service that consolidates data output from the system service of the wearable computing device for output on the wearable computing device.

15. A method at a wearable computing device comprising:

establishing a connection with a host computing device over a personal area network;

establishing a connection with a remote computing device through the host computing device;

executing a system service corresponding to a microservice of the remote computing device based on a preconfigured service configuration configured between the system service and the microservice for handling a first subset of operations at the wearable computing device and a second subset of operations at the remote computing device, the system service comprising a location service and the microservice comprising a location microservice;

querying, via the location service, the host computing device for an estimated location of the host computing device;

responsive to querying the host computing device, receiving the estimated location of the host computing device from the host computing system;

determining an estimated location of the wearable computing device based on the estimated location of the host computing device;

transferring, through the host computing device, data associated with the first subset of operations to the remote computing device based on the preconfigured service configuration; and

providing a master location service that consolidates data output from the system service of the wearable computing device for output on the wearable computing device.
