Abstract

An archery limb control system, method and bow are described herein. The archery limb control system, in an embodiment, includes an energy resource and a driver having a plurality of lines. The driver is configured to receive a force derived from the energy resource. In response to the force, the lines are configured to put the limbs of an archery bow in a condition to cause a draw cord to propel a projectile toward a target.

Claims (73)

1. An archery limb control system comprising:

an energy resource configured to be supported by an archery bow, wherein the archery bow comprises a first limb, a second limb, and a draw cord coupled to the first and second limbs, wherein the draw cord is configured to propel a projectile toward a target;

an actuator operatively coupled to the energy resource;

a driver configured to receive a force in response to an actuation of the actuator, wherein the force is based on the energy resource, wherein the driver comprises:

a first flexible line coupled to the first limb; and

a second flexible line coupled to the second limb,

wherein the driver and the first and second flexible lines are configured to cooperate so that, as a result of the force, the first flexible line causes a first flexing of the first limb, and the second flexible line causes a second flexing of the second limb,

wherein the first flexing and the second flexing transition the first and second limbs to an energized condition,

wherein, in the energized condition, the first and second limbs are associated with a spring force,

wherein the spring force is sufficient to cause the draw cord to propel the projectile toward the target.

2. The archery limb control system of claim 1 , wherein each of the first and second flexible lines comprises one of a wire, a cable, a string, a band and a belt.

3. The archery limb control system of claim 1 , wherein:

the driver comprises at least one rotor coupled to at least one of the first and second flexible lines; and

the at least one rotor is configured to transmit at least part of the force to at least one of the first and second flexible lines.

4. The archery limb control system of claim 1 , wherein:

the archery bow comprises a crossbow; and

the crossbow comprises a body, a butt supported by the body, and a trigger supported by the body, wherein, when the first and second limbs are in the energized condition, the draw cord is configured to launch the projectile in response to a movement of the trigger relative to the body.

5. The archery limb control system of claim 1 , wherein the driver is configured to cooperate with the archery bow so as to:

cause a first part of the force to cause the first flexing of the first limb; and

cause a second part of the force to cause the second flexing of the second limb.

6. The archery limb control system of claim 1 , wherein:

the energy resource comprises at least one container filled with pressurized fluid; and

the force is derived from a pressure of the pressurized fluid.

7. The archery limb control system of claim 1 , wherein the energy resource comprises an electrical power source.

8. The archery limb control system of claim 7 , comprising a motion generator operatively coupled to the electrical power source.

9. The archery limb control system of claim 8 , wherein the motion generator comprises a motor.

10. The archery limb control system of claim 1 , wherein the actuator comprises an electrical switch.

11. The archery limb control system of claim 1 , wherein:

the archery bow comprises: (a) a body; (b) a first limb holder pivotally coupled to the body, wherein the first limb holder holds the first limb; and (c) a second limb holder pivotally coupled to the body, wherein the second limb holder holds the second limb;

the first flexible line is coupled to the first limb holder; and

the second flexible line is coupled to the second limb holder.

12. An archery bow device comprising the archery limb control system of claim 1 and the archery bow of claim 1 .

13. An archery limb control system comprising:

an energy resource configured to be supported by an archery bow, wherein the archery bow comprises a first limb, a second limb, and a draw cord coupled to the first and second limbs, wherein the draw cord is configured to propel a projectile toward a target;

an actuator operatively coupled to the energy resource;

a driver configured to receive a force in response to an actuation of the actuator, wherein the force is derived from the energy resource, wherein the driver comprises:

a first flexible line coupled to the first limb; and

a second flexible line coupled to the second limb,

wherein, in response to the force, the first and second flexible lines are configured to put the first and second limbs in a condition to cause the draw cord to propel the projectile toward the target.

14. The archery limb control system of claim 13 , wherein the condition comprises an energized condition.

15. The archery limb control system of claim 14 , wherein, in the energized condition, the first and second limbs collectively comprise a spring force that is sufficient to cause the draw cord to propel the projectile toward the target.

16. The archery limb control system of claim 13 , wherein each of the first and second flexible lines comprises one of a wire, a cable, a string, a band and a belt.

17. The archery limb control system of claim 13 , wherein:

the driver comprises at least one rotor coupled to at least one of the first and second flexible lines; and

the at least one rotor is configured to transmit at least part of the force to at least one of the first and second flexible lines.

18. The archery limb control system of claim 13 , wherein:

the archery bow comprises a crossbow; and

the crossbow comprises a body, a butt supported by the body, and a trigger supported by the body, wherein, when the first and second limbs are in the condition, the draw cord is configured to launch the projectile in response to a movement of the trigger relative to the body.
