Abstract

A camera module ( 1 ) for a motor vehicle, in particular for driver monitoring in the passenger compartment, including at least one printed circuit board ( 2 ) and a shield for enclosing the printed circuit board ( 2 ). The shield includes at least a first shielding part ( 7 ) and a second shielding part ( 10 ). The first shielding part ( 7 ) is a ring shaped part and the second shielding part ( 10 ) is a hat shaped part put over, enclosing, and contacting the first shielding part ( 7 ).

Claims (15)

1. A camera module for a motor vehicle for driver monitoring in a passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, comprising at least one printed circuit board and a shield for enclosing the printed circuit board, the shield comprises at least a first shielding part and a second shielding part, wherein the first shielding part is a ring shaped part such that the first shielding part includes an essentially strip-shaped body part mountable along the circumference of the at least one printed circuit board and the second shielding part is a hat shaped part such that the second shielding part includes a top part and one or more side parts enclosing the strip shaped body part of the first shielding part, wherein the second shielding part encloses, and contacts the first shielding part in a mounted state of the first and second shielding parts, and wherein the camera module further includes a housing surrounding the second shielding part and being mechanically connected to the second shielding part.

2. The camera module according to claim 1 further comprising in that the first shielding and the second shielding part are connected to each other by one or more clip connectors.

3. The camera module according to claim 1 further comprising in that the at least one printed circuit board and the first shielding part are connected to each other by one or more clips.

4. The camera module according to claim 1 further comprising in that the first shielding part or the second shielding part is made of sheet metal.

5. The camera module according to claim 1 further comprising in that electronic components on the at least one printed circuit board are contained in a shielded space formed by the at least one printed circuit board, the first shielding part or the second shielding part.

6. The camera module according to claim 1 further comprising in that the camera module comprises at least two of the printed circuit boards arranged in an overlapping manner to each other in one of, in parallel, essentially in parallel, or with a distance to each other.

7. The camera module for a motor vehicle according to claim 6 further comprising in that the at least two printed circuit boards have an equal shape, or an essentially equal shape.

8. The camera module according to claim 1 further comprising in that a gap is formed between two end regions of the first shielding part in the mounted state, wherein the second shielding part covers the gap of the first shielding part in the mounted state.

9. The camera module according to claim 1 wherein the housing comprises an opening for an electrical connector.

10. The camera module according to claim 1 further comprising in that the housing is adapted to be clipped over the second shielding part.

11. The camera module according to claim 1 wherein the second shielding part comprises a hole allowing light to enter into the camera module.

12. A method of using a camera module as claimed in claim 1 for driver monitoring in the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle.

13. A method of assembling a camera module as claimed in claim 1 comprising the step of putting the second shielding part over the first shielding part, such that the second shielding part encloses and contacts the first shielding part.

14. The method as claimed in claim 13 further comprising in that the first shielding part and the second shielding part are manufactured by punching and folding sheet metal.

15. The camera module according to claim 1 , wherein the ring-shaped first shielding part encloses at least 210° of the at least one circuit board.
