Abstract

A synergistic microbicidal composition comprising CMIT/MIT and glyoxal and a method for inhibiting the growth of microorganisms in an aqueous medium and removing biofilms.

Claims (3)

1 . A synergistic microbicidal composition comprising mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one in a ratio of 3:1 with glyoxal, in a ratio range of 1:50 to 1:1.

2 . A method for controlling the growth of microorganisms in an aqueous medium; the method comprising adding to the aqueous medium the synergistic microbicidal composition of claim 1 .

3 . A method of controlling biofilm, the method comprising adding to an aqueous medium, the synergistic microbicidal composition of claim 1 wherein the aqueous medium is in contact with a biofilm.
