Abstract

Exemplary embodiments of massaging devices are disclosed herein. One exemplary embodiment includes a piston having a longitudinal axis, a massaging head connected to the piston, a motor located on a first side of the longitudinal axis and a handle located on a second side of the longitudinal axis. A drive mechanism for moving the piston and massage head is also included.

Claims (32)

1 . A method for securing a treatment member to a reciprocating shaft of a percussive massage device, the method comprising:

securing a treatment member magnet into a recess defined in a proximal end of the treatment member;

moving the proximal end of the treatment member toward a distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device; and

magnetically attracting the treatment member magnet to the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

securing a shaft magnet into a recess defined in the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device; and

magnetically attracting the treatment member magnet to the shaft magnet.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising providing sufficient magnetic force between the treatment member magnet and the shaft magnet to prevent inadvertent decoupling of the treatment member from the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

4 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising securing the shaft magnet to the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising magnetically coupling the proximal end of the treatment member to the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising securing the treatment member magnet to the proximal end of the treatment member.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

providing a receptacle extending into one of the proximal end of the treatment member or the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device; and

receiving an other of the proximal end of the treatment member or the distal end of the shaft into the receptacle.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the receptacle extends into the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

providing a receptacle extending into the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device; and

receiving the proximal end of the treatment member into the receptacle.

10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

removing the treatment member from the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device by pulling the treatment member away from the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device; and

securing a second treatment member to the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a proximal portion of the treatment member into a receptacle extending into a distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

12 . A method for replacing a first treatment member with a second treatment member to a reciprocating shaft of a percussive massage device, the method comprising:

separating the first treatment member from the reciprocating shaft by overcoming a magnetic attraction between a proximal end of the first treatment member and a distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device;

moving a proximal end of the second treatment member toward the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device; and

magnetically attracting the proximal end of the second treatment member to the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the step of separating the first treatment member from the reciprocating shaft further includes pulling the first treatment member away from the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device in a direction coaxial with the reciprocating shaft.

14 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising removing one of the proximal end of the first treatment member or the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device from a receptacle extending from one of the proximal end of the first treatment member or the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

15 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising receiving one of the proximal end of the second treatment member or the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device into a receptacle extending from one of the proximal end of the second treatment member or the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

16 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising magnetically coupling the proximal end of the second treatment member to the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.

17 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising magnetically coupling a treatment member magnet at the proximal end of the second treatment member to a shaft magnet at the distal end of the reciprocating shaft of the percussive massage device.
