Abstract

The present disclosure provides for creation of a test tool that uses publicly available SIM information to generate and load a test eSIM profile to eUICC. The test profile mirrors the non-sensitive network attach mechanisms for any given MNO to work in a predefined lab environment with network emulator. The test eSIM profile is not limited to use with to the SIM's specific OS and hardware. Rather, the eSIM profile package format is a publicly defined file format designed to be interoperable in all eUICC capable mobile devices. The test tool described herein may therefore eliminate bottlenecks and external dependencies faced by manufacturers and MNOs by allowing manufacturers and MNOs to validate profiles, networks, and devices for a wide variety of configurations.

Claims (32)

1. A system, comprising:

an input/output interface configured to couple to a first mobile communication device; and

one or more processors configured to:

receive, from the first mobile communication device, an activity log of activity associated with a sequence of the first mobile communication device, the sequence is at least one of a boot-up sequence or a network attach sequence;

extract, from the activity log, subscriber identity module (SIM) profile contents;

translate the SIM profile contents into an encoded file;

wherein the one or more processors are further configured to output the encoded file to a test embedded universal integrated circuit card (eUICC);

wherein the activity log comprises communications between a SIM and a baseband processor of the first mobile communication device; and

wherein extracting the SIM profile contents comprises parsing files of the activity loci permitting read access.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the test eUICC is configured to be installed on a second mobile computing device for testing.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein translating the SIM profile contents into an encoded file comprises transposing SIM files on-top of a SIM Alliance profile.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to convert the encoded file into a publicly defined file format.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the publicly defined file format is a bound profile package (BPP).

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein parsing the files comprises applying a predefined template to the activity log.

7. A method, comprising:

receiving, with one or more processors from a first mobile communication device, an activity log of activity associated with a sequence of the first mobile communication device, the sequence is at least one of a boot-up sequence or a network attach sequence;

extracting, with the one or more processors, subscriber identity module (SIM) profile contents from the activity log;

translating, with the one or more processors, the SIM profile contents into an encoded file;

outputting the encoded file to a test embedded universal integrated circuit card (eUICC);

wherein receiving the activity loci comprises listening to communications between a SIM and a baseband processor of the first mobile communication device; and

wherein extracting the SIM profile contents comprises parsing files of the activity loci permitting read access.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein translating the SIM profile contents into an encoded file comprises transposing SIM files on-top of a SIM Alliance profile.

9. The method of claim 7 , further comprising converting the encoded file into a publicly defined file format.

10. The method of claim 7 , wherein parsing the files comprises applying a predefined template to the activity log.

11. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing

instructions executable by one or more processors to perform a method, comprising:

receiving, from a first mobile communication device, an activity log of activity associated with a sequence of the first mobile communication device, the sequence is at least one of a boot-up sequence or a network attach sequence;

extracting subscriber identity module (SIM) profile contents from the activity log;

translating the SIM profile contents into an encoded file;

outputting the encoded file to a test embedded universal integrated circuit card (eUICC);

wherein the activity log comprises communications between a SIM and a baseband processor of the first mobile communication device; and

wherein extracting the SIM profile contents comprises parsing files of the activity loci permitting read access.
