Abstract

Disclosed systems and methods relate to a smart access control device in a security system for monitoring an area. According to embodiments, a method can include receiving, by the smart access control device, from one or more sensors in the area, sensor data about the area. The method can also include analyzing the received sensor data and generating an alert for a user about the area based on the analyzed sensor data. The method can further include transmitting, by the smart access control device, a first signal comprising the alert to a monitoring server of the security system. Moreover, the method can include enabling, by the smart access control device, a person requesting access to the area to enter identification information and granting access to the area to the person based on the received identification information that is evaluated by the user.

Claims (40)

1. A method for using a smart access control device in a security system for monitoring an area, the method comprising:

receiving, by a dynamic monitoring server, sensor data from a plurality of sensors in the security system, the plurality of sensors comprising at least two sensor types;

determining, by the dynamic monitoring server, at least one event based on the sensor data from at least one of the plurality of sensors;

identifying, by the dynamic monitoring server, based on the sensor type of the at least one of the plurality of sensors, at least one service provider associated with the at least one event;

transmitting, by the dynamic monitoring server, at least one alert to the at least one service provider associated with the at least one event; and

instructing, by the dynamic monitoring server, the smart access control device in the security system for monitoring the area to provide access to the area to the at least one service provider.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, by the dynamic monitoring server, at least some of the sensor data from at least one of the plurality of sensors to the at least one service provider.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving, by the dynamic monitoring server, the sensor data from the plurality of sensors in the security system comprises receiving, by the dynamic monitoring server, the sensor data via a network-connected device in communication with the plurality of sensors in the security system.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least two sensor types comprise two or more of water detectors, health sensors, camera sensors, audio sensors, smoke detectors, gas detectors, open door sensors, or open window sensors.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the service provider is a fire department, police department, a medical responder, a repairperson, or a security provider.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, by the dynamic monitoring server, at least one second alert to at least one operator associated with the area if the service provider is determined not to have responded within a predetermined time period.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, by the dynamic monitoring server, at least one second event from at least one second of the plurality of sensors, the sensor type of the at least one second of the plurality of sensors being different from the sensor type of the at least one of the plurality of sensors;

identifying, by the dynamic monitoring server, based on the sensor type of the at least one second of the plurality of sensors, at least one second service provider associated with the at least one second event;

transmitting, by the dynamic monitoring server, at least one second alert to the at least one second service provider associated with the at least one event; and

instructing, by the dynamic monitoring server, the smart access control device in the security system for monitoring the area to provide access to the area to the at least one second service provider.

8. The method of claim 1 , the area comprising a building.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining, by the dynamic monitoring server, the at least one event from at least one of the plurality of sensors comprises receiving an alert with the sensor data.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the dynamic monitoring server, sensor data from at least one additional sensor different from the plurality of sensors in response to the event.

11. A dynamic monitoring server for using a smart access control device in a security system for monitoring an area, the dynamic monitoring server comprising:

a processor;

a memory having instructions thereon that cause the processor to:

receive sensor data from a plurality of sensors in the security system, the plurality of sensors comprising at least two sensor types;

determine at least one event based on the sensor data from at least one of the plurality of sensors;

identify, based on the sensor type of the at least one of the plurality of sensors, at least one service provider associated with the at least one event;

transmit at least one alert to the at least one service provider associated with the at least one event; and

instruct the smart access control device in the security system for monitoring the area to provide access to the area to the at least one service provider.

12. The dynamic monitoring server of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further caused to transmit at least some of the sensor data from at least one of the plurality of sensors to the at least one service provider.

13. The dynamic monitoring server of claim 11 , wherein the receiving the sensor data from the plurality of sensors in the security system comprises receiving the sensor data via a network-connected device in communication with the plurality of sensors in the security system.

14. The dynamic monitoring server of claim 11 , wherein the at least two sensor types comprise two or more of water detectors, health sensors, camera sensors, audio sensors, smoke detectors, gas detectors, open door sensors, or open window sensors.

15. The dynamic monitoring server of claim 11 , wherein the service provider is a fire department, police department, a medical responder, a repairperson, or a security provider.

16. The dynamic monitoring server of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further caused to transmit at least one second alert to at least one operator associated with the area if the service provider is determined not to have responded within a predetermined time period.

17. The dynamic monitoring server of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further caused to:

determine at least one second event from at least one second of the plurality of sensors, the sensor type of the at least one second of the plurality of sensors being different from the sensor type of the at least one of the plurality of sensors;

identify, based on the sensor type of the at least one second of the plurality of sensors, at least one second service provider associated with the at least one second event;

transmit at least one second alert to the at least one second service provider associated with the at least one event; and

instruct the smart access control device in the security system for monitoring the area to provide access to the area to the at least one second service provider.

18. The dynamic monitoring server of claim 11 , the area comprising a building.

19. The dynamic monitoring server of claim 11 , the determining, by the dynamic monitoring server, the at least one event from at least one of the plurality of sensors comprises receiving an alert with the sensor data.

20. The dynamic monitoring server of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further caused to receive sensor data from at least one additional sensor different from the plurality of sensors in response to the event.
