Abstract

The present invention discloses an intelligent cloud server for cloud storage information management and encryption. In some embodiments, the intelligent cloud server can save and store documents without the need of first saving them in a local drive for upload. Upon storage, the document can be scanned and classified in a security level according to pre-determined settings and parameters. In some embodiments, depending on the classification, the system can encrypt portions of the document in order to facilitate the sharing and access of information in a secure way. Encryption keys and access to the encrypted portions are only provided upon authentication of the user, network, and/or need, according to corresponding protocols for the information.

Claims (43)

1. A cloud based file management system, comprising:

a cloud server including:

a controller with one or more processors;

a document database for storing documents generated by users of the cloud based file management system; and

one or more memories in digital communication with the one or more processors, the one or more memories storing software code, the software code being executable upon demand and operative with the one or more processors to:

store a document in the document database, the document including mark-up syntax data, the mark-up syntax data including syntax edits marking one or more sections in the document that include sensitive or confidential information and identifying one or more pre-approved viewers who are a subset of a plurality of viewers authorized to access the document;

scan the document using a pattern matching algorithm to identify sensitive or confidential information based at least in part on the mark-up syntax data;

encrypt the identified sensitive or confidential information within the document such that the identified sensitive or confidential information is only viewable by the one or more pre-approved viewers; and

share the document with the plurality of viewers authorized to access the document.

2. The cloud based file management system of claim 1 , wherein the mark-up syntax data includes one or more tags inputted into the document by the one or more users.

3. The cloud based file management system of claim 2 , wherein the one or more tags includes a specific string of characters and identifying information setting the one or more pre-approved viewers.

4. The cloud based file management system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a virtual file system that acts as a portal between a user electronic device and the cloud server and that is accessible using the user electronic device to upload data to the document database and download data from the document database.

5. The cloud based file management system of claim 4 , wherein the virtual file system is a virtual drive mounted on the user electronic device in an encrypted state such that no other software on the electronic device is able to read content stored within the virtual file system.

6. The cloud based file management system of claim 1 , wherein encrypting the document includes breaking the document into blocks, duplicating non-classified information, or redacting the identified sensitive or confidential information out of the document.

7. The cloud based file management system of claim 1 , wherein the software code is executable upon demand and operative with the one or more processors to record transmission or access actions associated with the identified sensitive or confidential information.

8. The cloud file management system of claim 7 , wherein the software code is executable upon demand and operative with the one or more processors to provide a summary of the recorded actions to an administrator, or analyze the recorded actions to establish patterns and detect unusual requests or activity in an organization.

9. A method for virtual file storage and encryption, comprising:

storing a document in a document database of a cloud server, the document including mark-up syntax data, the mark-up syntax data including syntax edits marking one or more sections of the document that includes sensitive or confidential information and identifying one or more pre-approved viewers who are a subset of a plurality of viewers authorized to access the document;

scanning the document using a pattern matching algorithm to identify the sensitive or confidential information based at least in part on the mark-up syntax data;

encrypting the identified sensitive or confidential information within the document such that the identified sensitive or confidential information is only viewable by the one or more preapproved viewers; and

sharing the document with the plurality of viewers authorized to access the document.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the mark-up syntax data includes one or more tags inputted into the document by the one or more users.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the one or more tags includes a specific string of characters and identifying information setting or selecting the one or more pre-approved viewers.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the identifying information includes an email address of the one or more pre-approved viewers.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the encrypting the document includes breaking the document into blocks, duplicating non-classified information, or redacting of the identified sensitive or confidential information out of the document.

14. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

recording transmission or access actions associated with the identified sensitive or confidential information.

15. The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

providing a summary of the recorded actions to an administrator.

16. The method of claim 14 , further comprising:

analyzing the recorded actions to establish patterns or detect unusual requests or activity in an organization.

17. A system, comprising:

a database;

one or more processors; and

one or more memories, the one or more memories being in digital communication with one or more processors, the one or more memories storing software code, the software code being executable upon demand and operative with the one or more processors to:

store a file on the database;

receive mark-up syntax data in the file that identifies sensitive or confidential information, the mark-up syntax data including syntax edits and identifying one or more pre-approved viewers who are a subset of a plurality of viewers authorized to access the document;

scanning the document to identify the sensitive or confidential information based at least in part on the received data;

encrypt the identified sensitive or confidential information within the file such that the identified sensitive or confidential information is only viewable by the one or more preapproved viewers; and

share the file with the plurality of viewers.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the file includes a document, and the mark-up syntax data includes one or more tags inputted into the document.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the one or more tags includes a specific string of characters and identifying information setting or selecting the one or more pre-approved viewers.
