Abstract

Mobile usage data representing the access of one or more resources on a network by mobile devices is accessed. The mobile usage data includes information received from mobile devices as a result of beacon instructions included with the one or more resources. A first set of data representing information about accesses to the one or more resources by mobile devices with persistent beacon cookies is determined. A second set of data representing information about accesses to the one or more resources by mobile devices with non-persistent beacon cookies is determined. One or more adjustment factors are determined based on the first set of data. A count of unique visitors accessing the one or more resources from the mobile devices is determined based on a count of accesses by the mobile devices with persistent beacon cookies and a count of accesses by the mobile devices with non-persistent beacon cookies adjusted by the one or more adjustment factors.

Claims (40)

1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

accessing mobile usage data representing the access of one or more resources on a network by mobile devices, the mobile usage data including information received from mobile devices as a result of beacon instructions included with the one or more resources;

determining, based on the accessed mobile usage data, a first set of data representing information about accesses to the one or more resources by mobile devices with persistent beacon, identifiers, wherein the persistent beacon identifiers meet a persistence threshold;

determining, based on the accessed mobile usage data, a second set of data representing information about accesses to the one or more resources by mobile devices with non-persistent beacon, identifiers, wherein the non-persistent beacon identifiers does not meet the persistence threshold;

determining one or more adjustment factors based on the first set of data; and

determining a count of unique visitors accessing the one or more resources from the mobile devices based, at least in part, on a count of accesses by the mobile devices with persistent beacon identifiers and a count of accesses by the mobile devices with non-persistent beacon identifiers adjusted by the one or more adjustment factors.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

pre-processing the mobile usage data by at least one of standardizing the mobile usage data, consolidating the mobile usage data, or eliminating or reclassifying at least some of the mobile usage data.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first set of data comprises the persistent beacon identifiers or unique IP addresses and times at which the one or more resources are accessed.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the persistent beacon identifiers are present for greater than a persistence duration threshold or have activity that exceeds a persistence activity threshold.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the persistence duration threshold is adjusted based on estimated data.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the count of unique visitors accessing the one or more resources from the mobile devices comprises summing the count of accesses by the mobile devices with persistent beacon identifiers and the count of accesses by the mobile devices with non-persistent beacon identifiers adjusted by the one or more adjustment factors.

7. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, effectuate operations comprising:

accessing mobile usage data representing the access of one or more resources on a network by mobile devices, the mobile usage data including information received from mobile devices as a result of beacon instructions included with the one or more resources;

determining, based on the accessed mobile usage data, a first set of data representing information about accesses to the one or more resources by mobile devices with persistent beacon, identifiers, wherein the persistent beacon identifiers meet a persistence threshold;

determining, based on the accessed mobile usage data, a second set of data representing information about accesses to the one or more resources by mobile devices with non-persistent beacon, identifiers, wherein the non-persistent beacon identifiers does not meet the persistence threshold;

determining one or more adjustment factors based on the first set of data; and

determining a count of unique visitors accessing the one or more resources from the mobile devices based, at least in part, on a count of accesses by the mobile devices with persistent beacon identifiers and a count of accesses by the mobile devices with non-persistent beacon identifiers adjusted by the one or more adjustment factors.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise:

pre-processing the mobile usage data by at least one of standardizing the mobile usage data, consolidating the mobile usage data, or eliminating or reclassifying at least some of the mobile usage data.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the first set of data comprises the persistent beacon identifiers or unique IP addresses and times at which the one or more resources are accessed.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the persistent beacon identifiers are present for greater than a persistence duration threshold or have activity that exceeds a persistence activity threshold.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the persistence duration threshold is adjusted based on estimated data.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein determining the count of unique visitors accessing the one or more resources from the mobile devices comprises summing the count of accesses by the mobile devices with persistent beacon identifiers and the count of accesses by the mobile devices with non-persistent beacon identifiers adjusted by the one or more adjustment factors.

13. A system, comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one storage device in communication with the at least one processor, wherein the at least one storage device stores instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, effectuate operations comprising:

accessing mobile usage data representing the access of one or more resources on a network by mobile devices, the mobile usage data including information received from mobile devices as a result of beacon instructions included with the one or more resources;

determining, based on the accessed mobile usage data, a first set of data representing information about accesses to the one or more resources by mobile devices with persistent beacon, identifiers, wherein the persistent beacon identifiers meet a persistence threshold;

determining, based on the accessed mobile usage data, a second set of data representing information about accesses to the one or more resources by mobile devices with non-persistent beacon, identifiers, wherein the non-persistent beacon identifiers does not meet the persistence threshold;

determining one or more adjustment factors based on the first set of data; and

determining a count of unique visitors accessing the one or more resources from the mobile devices based, at least in part, on a count of accesses by the mobile devices with persistent beacon identifiers and a count of accesses by the mobile devices with non-persistent beacon identifiers adjusted by the one or more adjustment factors.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise:

pre-processing the mobile usage data by at least one of standardizing the mobile usage data, consolidating the mobile usage data, or eliminating or reclassifying at least some of the mobile usage data.

15. The system of claim 13 , wherein the first set of data comprises the persistent beacon identifiers or unique IP addresses and times at which the one or more resources are accessed.

16. The system of claim 13 , wherein the persistent beacon identifiers are present for greater than a persistence duration threshold or have activity that exceeds a persistence activity threshold.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the persistence duration threshold is adjusted based on estimated data.

18. The system of claim 13 , wherein determining the count of unique visitors accessing the one or more resources from the mobile devices comprises summing the count of accesses by the mobile devices with persistent beacon identifiers and the count of accesses by the mobile devices with non-persistent beacon identifiers adjusted by the one or more adjustment factors.

19. The method of claim 1 , wherein the persistent beacon identifiers are persistent beacon cookies and the non-persistent beacon identifiers are non-persistent beacon cookies.

20. The system of claim 13 , wherein the persistent beacon identifiers are persistent beacon cookies and the non-persistent beacon identifiers are non-persistent beacon cookies.
