Abstract

Systems and methods for determining the answers to user queries regarding content, and presenting options for the user to view the answers. Searches are conducted to determine the answer to a query and, once the answer is found, various options are presented to the user, allowing the user the choice to view the answer in multiple different ways.

Claims (36)

1. A method of presenting answers to questions involving events in episodes of electronic content not yet viewed, the method comprising:

receiving a query;

parsing the query to determine that the query poses a question;

determining, using processing circuitry, whether the query represents the question having an answer presented in an existing episode of the content that has not yet been viewed; and

upon determining that the query represents a question having an answer presented in the existing episode of the content that has not yet been viewed:

transmitting for display an option to view the existing episode of the content on a display device, an option to view the existing episode of the content at a later time on the display device, and an option to view the answer on the display device.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the initiating determining further comprises initiating an electronic search of one or more electronic records.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

retrieving ones of the electronic records responsive to the electronic search; and

determining, using the processing circuitry, a natural language understanding of the retrieved ones of the electronic records.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, upon the determining that the query represents a question having an answer not yet viewed in the content, determining keywords of the query, and storing the keywords.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising retrieving one or more electronic records corresponding to the answer, and identifying the retrieved electronic records as spoiler records.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining further comprises determining, using processing circuitry, a natural language understanding of the query.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining further comprises classifying the query as representing the question.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the classifying further comprises classifying the query using one or more of a random forest classifier, a support vector machine, a naïve Bayes classifier, a conditional random field classifier, a hidden Markov model, a recurrent neural network, or a convolutional neural network.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining further comprises classifying the query as representing a question having an answer already revealed in the content.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the classifying further comprises classifying the query using one or more of a random forest classifier, a support vector machine, a naïve Bayes classifier, a conditional random field classifier, a hidden Markov model, a recurrent neural network, or a convolutional neural network.

11. A system for presenting answers to questions involving events in episodes of electronic content not yet viewed, the system comprising:

a storage device; and

control circuitry configured to:

receive a query;

parse the query to determine that the query poses a question;

determine, using processing circuitry, whether the query represents the question having an answer presented in an existing episode of the content that has not yet been viewed; and

upon determining that the query represents a question having an answer presented in the existing episode of the content that has not yet been viewed:

transmit for display an option to view the existing episode of the content on a display device, an option to view the existing episode of the content at a later time on the display device, and an option to view the answer on the display device.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the determining further comprises initiating an electronic search of one or more electronic records.

13. The system of claim 12 , further comprising:

retrieving ones of the electronic records responsive to the electronic search; and

determining, using the processing circuitry, a natural language understanding of the retrieved ones of the electronic records.

14. The system of claim 11 , further comprising, upon the determining that the query represents a question having an answer not yet viewed in the content, determining keywords of the query, and storing the keywords.

15. The system of claim 11 , further comprising retrieving one or more electronic records corresponding to the answer, and identifying the retrieved electronic records as spoiler records.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the determining further comprises determining, using processing circuitry, a natural language understanding of the query.

17. The system of claim 11 , wherein the determining further comprises classifying the query as representing the question.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the classifying further comprises classifying the query using one or more of a random forest classifier, a support vector machine, a naïve Bayes classifier, a conditional random field classifier, a hidden Markov model, a recurrent neural network, or a convolutional neural network.

19. The system of claim 11 , wherein the determining further comprises classifying the query as representing a question having an answer already revealed in the content.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the classifying further comprises classifying the query using one or more of a random forest classifier, a support vector machine, a naïve Bayes classifier, a conditional random field classifier, a hidden Markov model, a recurrent neural network, or a convolutional neural network.
