Abstract

Systems and methods for determining the answers to user queries regarding content, and presenting options for the user to view the answers. Searches are conducted to determine the answer to a query and, once the answer is found, various options are presented to the user, allowing the user the choice to view the answer in multiple different ways.

Claims (36)

1. A method of presenting answers to questions involving events in future episodes of electronic content, the method comprising:

receiving a query;

determining, using processing circuitry, whether the query represents a question having an answer not yet revealed in the content; and

upon determining that the query represents a question having an answer not yet revealed in the content:

storing an indicator of the query;

initiating at least one electronic search for the answer to the stored query; and

upon determining the answer to the stored query, transmitting for display an option to view an episode of the content corresponding to the answer on a display device, an option to view the episode of the content corresponding to the answer at a later time on the display device, and an option to view the answer on the display device.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising storing the determined answer.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the storing the determined answer further comprises determining entities associated with the episode of the content corresponding to the answer, and storing the determined entities as spoiler entities.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the determining entities associated with the episode further comprises storing an episode number and a scene number of the content corresponding to the answer.

5. The method of claim 3 , further comprising determining whether one or more electronic records contain at least one of the spoiler entities, and labeling as spoiler records the determined electronic records that contain at least one of the spoiler entities.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining further comprises determining, using processing circuitry, a natural language understanding of the query.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining further comprises classifying the query as representing the question.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the classifying further comprises classifying the query using one or more of a random forest classifier, a support vector machine, a naïve Bayes classifier, a conditional random field classifier, a hidden Markov model, a recurrent neural network, or a convolutional neural network.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining further comprises classifying the query as representing a question having an answer already revealed in the content.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the classifying further comprises classifying the query using one or more of a random forest classifier, a support vector machine, a naïve Bayes classifier, a conditional random field classifier, a hidden Markov model, a recurrent neural network, or a convolutional neural network.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the initiating further comprises initiating the electronic search for the answer from time to time.

12. A system for presenting answers to questions involving events in future episodes of electronic content, the system comprising:

a storage device; and

control circuitry configured to:

receive a query;

determine, using processing circuitry, whether the query represents a question having an answer not yet revealed in the content; and

upon determining that the query represents a question having an answer not yet revealed in the content:

store an indicator of the query;

initiate at least one electronic search for the answer to the stored query; and

upon determining the answer to the stored query, transmit for display an option to view an episode of the content corresponding to the answer on a display device, an option to view the episode of the content corresponding to the answer at a later time on the display device, and an option to view the answer on the display device.

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to store the determined answer.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the storing the determined answer further comprises determining entities associated with the episode of the content corresponding to the answer, and storing the determined entities as spoiler entities.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the determining entities associated with the episode further comprises storing an episode number and a scene number of the content corresponding to the answer.

16. The system of claim 14 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to determine whether one or more electronic records contain at least one of the spoiler entities, and label as spoiler records the determined electronic records that contain at least one of the spoiler entities.

17. The system of claim 12 , wherein the determining further comprises determining, using processing circuitry, a natural language understanding of the query.

18. The system of claim 12 , wherein the determining further comprises classifying the query as representing the question.

19. The system of claim 18 , wherein the classifying further comprises classifying the query using one or more of a random forest classifier, a support vector machine, a naïve Bayes classifier, a conditional random field classifier, a hidden Markov model, a recurrent neural network, or a convolutional neural network.

20. The system of claim 12 , wherein the determining further comprises classifying the query as representing a question having an answer already revealed in the content.

21. The system of claim 20 , wherein the classifying further comprises classifying the query using one or more of a random forest classifier, a support vector machine, a naïve Bayes classifier, a conditional random field classifier, a hidden Markov model, a recurrent neural network, or a convolutional neural network.

22. The system of claim 12 , wherein the initiating further comprises initiating the electronic search for the answer from time to time.
