Abstract

A base station may send, to a wireless device, control channel configuration information indicating various aspects of a control channel (e.g., radio resources, subframes, etc.) that may be used for data communications between the base station and wireless device.

Claims (82)

1. A method comprising:

transmitting, by a base station:

a first plurality of synchronization signals, in a time interval, via a first downlink carrier corresponding to a first carrier type; and

a second plurality of synchronization signals, in the time interval, via a second downlink carrier corresponding to a second carrier type,

wherein, in the time interval, the first plurality of synchronization signals of the first downlink carrier are offset, in symbols, from the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier, and

wherein, in the time interval, the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier overlap, in time, with a control channel of the first downlink carrier; and

communicating with one or more wireless devices via the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first plurality of synchronization signals comprise primary synchronization signals (PSS) of the first downlink carrier and secondary synchronization signals (SSS) of the first downlink carrier.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second plurality of synchronization signals comprise primary synchronization signals (PSS) of the second downlink carrier and secondary synchronization signals (SSS) of the second downlink carrier.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein, in the time interval, the first plurality of synchronization signals of the first downlink carrier do not overlap, in time, any of the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting, to the one or more wireless devices, one or more messages indicating one or more offsets between the first plurality of synchronization signals and the second plurality of synchronization signals.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein transmissions via the first downlink carrier have a larger coverage area than transmissions via the second downlink carrier.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are Long-Term Evolution (LTE) carriers.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the time interval is at least one of:

a slot;

a subframe;

a transmission time interval (TTI); or

a plurality of symbols.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first carrier type is associated with a first control channel type, and wherein the second carrier type is associated with a second control channel type.

10. A base station comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:

transmit a first plurality of synchronization signals, in a time interval, via a first downlink carrier corresponding to a first carrier type;

transmit a second plurality of synchronization signals, in the time interval, via a second downlink carrier corresponding to a second carrier type, wherein, in the time interval, the first plurality of synchronization signals of the first downlink carrier are offset, in symbols, from the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier, and wherein, in the time interval, the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier overlap, in time, with a control channel of the first downlink carrier; and

communicate with one or more wireless devices via the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier.

11. The base station of claim 10 , wherein the first plurality of synchronization signals comprise primary synchronization signals (PSS) of the first downlink carrier and secondary synchronization signals (SSS) of the first downlink carrier.

12. The base station of claim 10 , wherein the second plurality of synchronization signals comprise primary synchronization signals (PSS) of the second downlink carrier and secondary synchronization signals (SSS) of the second downlink carrier.

13. The base station of claim 10 , wherein, in the time interval, the first plurality of synchronization signals of the first downlink carrier do not overlap, in time, any of the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier.

14. The base station of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to transmit, to the one or more wireless devices, one or more messages indicating one or more offsets between the first plurality of synchronization signals and the second plurality of synchronization signals.

15. The base station of claim 10 , wherein transmissions via the first downlink carrier have a larger coverage area than transmissions via the second downlink carrier.

16. The base station of claim 10 , wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are Long-Term Evolution (LTE) carriers.

17. The base station of claim 10 , wherein the time interval is at least one of:

a slot;

a subframe;

a transmission time interval (TTI); or

a plurality of symbols.

18. The base station of claim 10 , wherein the first carrier type is associated with a first control channel type, and wherein the second carrier type is associated with a second control channel type.

19. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause:

transmitting a first plurality of synchronization signals, in a time interval, via a first downlink carrier corresponding to a first carrier type;

transmitting a second plurality of synchronization signals, in the time interval, via a second downlink carrier corresponding to a second carrier type, wherein, in the time interval, the first plurality of synchronization signals of the first downlink carrier are offset, in symbols, from the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier, and wherein, in the time interval, the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier overlap, in time, with a control channel of the first downlink carrier; and

communicating with one or more wireless devices via the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the first plurality of synchronization signals comprise primary synchronization signals (PSS) of the first downlink carrier and secondary synchronization signals (SSS) of the first downlink carrier.

21. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the second plurality of synchronization signals comprise primary synchronization signals (PSS) of the second downlink carrier and secondary synchronization signals (SSS) of the second downlink carrier.

22. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein, in the time interval, the first plurality of synchronization signals of the first downlink carrier do not overlap, in time, any of the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier.

23. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause transmitting, to the one or more wireless devices, one or more messages indicating one or more offsets between the first plurality of synchronization signals and the second plurality of synchronization signals.

24. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein transmissions via the first downlink carrier have a larger coverage area than transmissions via the second downlink carrier.

25. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are Long-Term Evolution (LTE) carriers.

26. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the time interval is at least one of:

a slot;

a subframe;

a transmission time interval (TTI); or

a plurality of symbols.

27. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the first carrier type is associated with a first control channel type, and wherein the second carrier type is associated with a second control channel type.

28. A method comprising:

transmitting, by a base station:

a first plurality of synchronization signals, in a time interval, via a first downlink carrier corresponding to a first carrier type; and

a second plurality of synchronization signals, in the time interval, via a second downlink carrier corresponding to a second carrier type,

wherein, in the time interval, the first plurality of synchronization signals of the first downlink carrier are offset, in symbols, from the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier, and

wherein a boundary of a radio frame of the first downlink carrier is aligned with a boundary of a radio frame of the second downlink carrier; and

communicating with one or more wireless devices via the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier.

29. The method of claim 28 , wherein the first plurality of synchronization signals comprise primary synchronization signals (PSS) of the first downlink carrier and secondary synchronization signals (SSS) of the first downlink carrier.

30. The method of claim 28 , wherein the second plurality of synchronization signals comprise primary synchronization signals (PSS) of the second downlink carrier and secondary synchronization signals (SSS) of the second downlink carrier.

31. The method of claim 28 , wherein, in the time interval, the first plurality of synchronization signals of the first downlink carrier do not overlap, in time, any of the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier.

32. The method of claim 28 , wherein, in the time interval, the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier overlap, in time, with a control channel of the first downlink carrier.

33. The method of claim 28 , further comprising transmitting, to the one or more wireless devices, one or more messages indicating one or more offsets between the first plurality of synchronization signals and the second plurality of synchronization signals.

34. The method of claim 28 , wherein transmissions via the first downlink carrier have a larger coverage area than transmissions via the second downlink carrier.

35. The method of claim 28 , wherein the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier are Long-Term Evolution (LTE) carriers.

36. The method of claim 28 , wherein the time interval is at least one of:

a slot;

a subframe;

a transmission time interval (TTI); or

a plurality of symbols.

37. The method of claim 28 , wherein a subcarrier spacing for the first downlink carrier is different from a subcarrier spacing for the second downlink carrier.

38. A method comprising:

transmitting, by a base station:

a first plurality of synchronization signals, in a time interval, via a first downlink carrier corresponding to a first carrier type; and

a second plurality of synchronization signals, in the time interval, via a second downlink carrier corresponding to a second carrier type,

wherein, in the time interval, the first plurality of synchronization signals of the first downlink carrier are offset, in symbols, from the second plurality of synchronization signals of the second downlink carrier, and

wherein a time offset between the first plurality of synchronization signals and the second plurality of synchronization signals is different from a time offset between a boundary of a radio frame of the first downlink carrier and a boundary of a radio frame of the second downlink carrier; and

communicating with one or more wireless devices via the first downlink carrier and the second downlink carrier.

39. The method of claim 38 , wherein a subcarrier spacing for the first downlink carrier is different from a subcarrier spacing for the second downlink carrier.

40. The method of claim 38 , wherein the time offset between the boundary of the radio frame of the first downlink carrier and the boundary of the radio frame of the second downlink carrier is zero.
