Abstract

An electric starting system for an internal combustion engine is provided. The starting system includes a battery, a starter motor, and a blower housing. The starter motor is configured to start the internal combustion engine. The battery is integrated with the blower housing.

Claims (35)

1. An electric starting system for an internal combustion engine, comprising:

a battery;

a starter motor configured to start the internal combustion engine; and

a blower housing;

wherein the battery is integrated with the blower housing;

wherein the blower housing includes an air intake, and wherein the battery is positioned proximate the air intake;

wherein the battery is a lithium-ion battery comprising one or more lithium-ion battery cells.

2. The electric starting system of claim 1 , wherein the battery provides power to the electric starting system when the battery receives an enable input.

3. The electric starting system of claim 1 , wherein the air intake comprises a plurality of apertures, and wherein the plurality of apertures permit air to enter the blower housing.

4. The electric starting system of claim 3 , wherein air drawn into the blower housing through the air intake is utilized to cool the battery.

5. The electric starting system of claim 3 , wherein the plurality of apertures limit the ability of debris to pass through the air intake.

6. The electric starting system of claim 1 , wherein the blower housing comprises an opening, and wherein the opening leads to a channel for routing wires or a wiring harness.

7. The electric starting system of claim 6 , wherein the blower housing further comprises a sidewall, and wherein the sidewall protects the wires or the wiring harness from damage.

8. An electric starting system for an internal combustion engine, comprising:

a battery;

a starter motor configured to start the internal combustion engine; and

a blower housing;

wherein the battery is integrated with the blower housing; and

wherein the blower housing comprises an opening, and wherein the opening leads to a channel for routing wires or a wiring harness.

9. The electric starting system of claim 8 , wherein the blower housing includes an air intake, and wherein the battery is positioned proximate the air intake.

10. The electric starting system of claim 9 , wherein the air intake comprises a plurality of apertures, and wherein the plurality of apertures permit air to enter the blower housing.

11. The electric starting system of claim 10 , wherein air drawn into the blower housing through the air intake is utilized to cool the battery.

12. The electric starting system of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of apertures limit the ability of debris to pass through the air intake.

13. The electric starting system of claim 8 , wherein the blower housing further comprises a sidewall, and wherein the sidewall protects the wires or the wiring harness from damage.

14. The electric starting system of claim 8 , wherein the battery is a lithium-ion battery comprising one or more lithium-ion battery cells.

15. The electric starting system of claim 8 , wherein the battery provides power to the electric starting system when the battery receives an enable input.

16. An electric starting system for an internal combustion engine, comprising:

a battery;

a starter motor configured to start the internal combustion engine; and

a blower housing;

wherein the battery is integrated with the blower housing; and

wherein the battery is a lithium-ion battery comprising one or more lithium-ion battery cells.

17. The electric starting system of claim 16 , wherein the blower housing includes an air intake, and wherein the battery is positioned proximate the air intake.

18. The electric starting system of claim 17 , wherein the air intake comprises a plurality of apertures, and wherein the plurality of apertures permit air to enter the blower housing.

19. The electric starting system of claim 16 , wherein the blower housing comprises an opening, and wherein the opening leads to a channel for routing wires or a wiring harness.
