Abstract

Coping arrangements and methods for mounting coping arrangements for swimming pools and related structures are provided. The coping arrangements include an elongated base member shaped and adapted to be received by a wall of a swimming pool; and a plurality of elongated top members, each of the plurality of elongated top members are adapted to be replaceably mounted to the elongated base member, and each of the plurality of elongated top members having an exposed contour different from each of the other elongated top members. The different exposed contours of the top members of the coping arrangement may comprise different cross-sectional. Methods for changing a coping arrangement, coping arrangement kits, coping members, and methods for installing a pool are also disclosed.

Claims (23)

1. A swimming pool coping arrangement comprising:

an elongated base member having an elongated plate, an inner elongated side extending from the elongated plate, an outer elongated side extending from the elongated plate, and at least one rib extending from the elongated plate, wherein the inner elongated side and the outer elongated side are shaped and adapted to be received by a top of a portion of an insulated wall of a swimming pool, and the elongated base member having an elongated liner recess adapted to receive a liner of the swimming pool; and

an elongated top member adapted to be mounted to the elongated base member, the elongated top member comprising an elongated top portion and an elongated side portion having an exposed contour; and

wherein, when the elongated top member is mounted to the elongated base member and the elongated base member is mounted to the top of the portion of the insulated wall of the swimming pool, the elongated top portion of the elongated top member contacts and is supported by the at least one rib of the elongated base member and the exposed contour of the top member is positioned opposite the elongated liner recess of the elongated base member and external to an outer wall of the swimming pool.

2. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the exposed contour of the elongated side portion comprises a curvilinear projection.

3. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 2 , wherein the curvilinear projection comprises a radiused projection.

4. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 3 , wherein the radiused curvilinear projection comprises a hollow protuberance.

5. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the elongated base member is further adapted to retain a pool cover.

6. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the inner elongated side and the outer elongated side shaped and adapted to be received by the top of the wall of the portion of the insulated wall of the swimming pool comprises an inner elongated side and an outer elongated side shaped and adapted to be received by a top of an insulated pool wall panel.

7. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the elongated top member further comprises a projection adapted to receive at least one of a platform and a decking.

8. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 7 , wherein the projection of the elongated top member comprises a lower projection; and wherein the elongated top member further comprises an upper projection positioned to receive the at least one of the platform and the decking.

9. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the elongated base member comprises a radiused elongated base member and the elongated top member comprises a radiused elongated top member.

10. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the swimming pool comprises an above-ground swimming pool or a partially above-ground swimming pool.

11. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the exposed contour of the elongated side portion comprises a fascia having a design or illustration.

12. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the exposed contour of the elongated side portion comprises a plurality of projections adapted to assist bathers in entering or exiting the swimming pool.

13. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the elongated top member comprises a first elongated top member having a side portion having a first exposed contour, and wherein the coping arrangement further comprises a second elongated top member having a side portion having a second exposed contour, different from the first exposed contour.

14. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 13 , wherein the first exposed contour comprises a first axial cross section, and wherein the second exposed contour comprises a second axial cross section, different from the first axial cross section.

15. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the elongated top member is further adapted to be replaceably mounted to the elongated base member.

16. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein, when the elongated top member is mounted to the elongated base member and the elongated base member is received by the top of the portion of the wall of the swimming pool, the elongated top member further comprises a substantially horizontal top surface.

17. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 16 , wherein the substantially horizontal top surface of the elongated top member further comprise a plurality of projections adapted to minimize slipping by a bather.

18. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the insulated wall comprise a first metallic skin, a second metallic skin, and an insulating layer between the first metallic skin and the second metallic skin.

19. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 18 , wherein insulating layer comprises a foam.

20. The coping arrangement as recited in claim 1 , wherein the side portion of the elongated top member comprises a recess adapted to engage a projection on a distal end of the outer elongated side of the elongated base member.
