Abstract

A sealing pad is configured to be mounted between a door and a surrounding doorjamb. In particular, the sealing pad is adjustably mounted to a bottom corner of the doorjamb. The sealing pad contains a base and at least three lobes formed on the base, an inside lobe closest to an inside edge of the sealing pad, an outer lobe farthest away from the inside edge, and a middle lobe in between the inside and outer lobes. The base has a tail extending from the inside edge, opposing and extending away from the inside lobe. The tail is configured to fit into a channel in the bottom corner of the doorjamb.

Claims (21)

1. An entry way, comprising:

a pair of spaced vertical jambs having, bottom ends and raised stops extending therealong, one of the vertical jambs having a channel formed in the bottom end thereof;

b) a threshold extending between said bottom ends of the vertical jambs;

c) a weather strip extending along at least the one of the vertical jambs; and

d) a sealing pad comprising

i) a base having a first end and a second end,

ii) an inside lobe, a middle lobe, and an outer lobe, each positioned on the base, each of the lobes comprises a flexible polymeric material, wherein the inside lobe is adjacent to the first end, the outer lobe is adjacent to the second end and configured for positioning between the weather strip and the one of the vertical jambs, and the middle lobe is located between the inside lobe and the outer lobe, and

iii) a tail extending from an edge of the first end of the base at an angle relative to the base and away from the inside lobe, the tail configured and sized for being slid along the channel for thereby positioning the sealing pad on the one of the vertical jambs by sliding the sealing pad along a longitudinal axis the one of the vertical jambs with the tail in the channel,

wherein the sealing pad is attached to the bottom end of the one of the vertical jambs, the tail is inserted in the channel and the outer lobe of the sealing pad is positioned between the weather strip and the one of the vertical jambs, and wherein the sealing pad is slidingly movable along the one of the vertical jambs with the tail iii the channel.

2. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein a maximum height which each of the lobes projects from the base decreases from the outer lobe to the inside lobe.

3. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein a maximum height the outer lobe projects from the base is greater than a maximum height the middle lobe projects from the base.

4. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein the base is rectangular in shape.

5. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein the angle is a right angle.

6. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein the base and the tail comprise one or more flexible polymeric materials.

7. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein the lobes are solid or hollow.

8. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein the lobes are filled with foam.

9. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein the lobes are configured to seal against a door when the sealing pad is mounted to the bottom end of the one of the vertical jambs.

10. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein a length of the channel is greater than a length of the tail.

11. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein the weather strip comprises a fixed leg and a flexible leg, and the outer lobe is disposed between the fixed leg and the flexible leg.

12. The entry way of claim 1 , wherein the tail comprises resilient barbs.

13. The entry way of claim 12 , wherein the barbs of the tail to frictionally hold the tail in the channel.
