Abstract

Alarm system arrangements (e.g., methods, apparatus, etc.) including receiving data originating from an entity located outside of a monitored premise, the data providing information detailing an impending request for temporary access of the monitored premise; and using the data to determine a predefined access plan to allow the temporary access to a predefined sub-area of the premises without triggering an alarm event, and to implement the predefined access plan at a time of receipt of an actual request for the temporary access. One example involves using the data to determine a predefined access plan which includes temporarily disabling of the alarm system's ability to recognize an alarm event with respect to activities occurring with respect to a predefined sub-area of the premises during the temporary access, and to implement the predefined access plan at a time relative to receipt of an actual request for the temporary access.

Claims (33)

1. An alarm system controller, comprising:

an interface connectable to receive data providing information detailing an impending request for a temporary access of a monitored premises by a delivery person; and

an access module configured to:

determine, based on the data, a maximum length of access time for the temporary access of the delivery person to a predefined sub-area of the monitored premises without triggering an alarm event;

subsequent to receiving the data and determining the maximum length of access time, receive an actual request originating from a delivery person device of the delivery person to request access to the monitored premises; and

allow the temporary access at a time of receipt of the actual request for the temporary access for the maximum length of access time.

2. The alarm system controller as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the alarm system controller is an alarm panel, wherein the data originates from a server located outside the monitored premises.

3. The alarm system controller as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the access module is further configured to determine a predefined access plan via utilizing the data to fill-in and complete a stored access plan.

4. The alarm system controller as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the predefined access plan includes disregarding signals from at least one alarm point monitoring the predefined sub-area of the monitored premises, during the temporary access.

5. The alarm system controller as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the predefined access plan is determined at a time in advance of the actual request for the temporary access.

6. The alarm system controller as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the predefined access plan includes controlling a video camera to record a scene of the predefined sub-area of the monitored premises for at least a period of the temporary access.

7. The alarm system controller as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the predefined access plan includes a controlling of a door lock to unlock to initiate the temporary access, and to lock upon termination of the temporary access.

8. A non-transient computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor of an alarm system controller, cause the processor to perform actions comprising:

receiving, by an interface, data providing information detailing an impending request for a temporary access to a monitored premises by a delivery person;

determining, by an access module based on the data, a maximum length of access time for the temporary access of the delivery person to a predefined sub-area of the monitored premises without triggering an alarm event;

subsequent to receiving the data and determining the maximum length of access time, receiving an actual request originating from a delivery person device of the delivery person to request access to the monitored premises; and

allowing the temporary access at a time of receipt of the actual request for the maximum length of access time.

9. The non-transient computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the alarm system controller is an alarm panel, wherein the data originates from a server located outside the monitored premises.

10. The non-transient computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the actions further comprise determining a predefined access plan via utilizing the data to fill-in and complete a stored access plan.

11. The non-transient computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the predefined access plan includes disregarding signals from at least one alarm point monitoring the predefined sub-area of the monitored premises, during the temporary access.

12. The non-transient computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the predefined access plan is determined at a time in advance of the actual request for the temporary access.

13. The non-transient computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the predefined access plan includes controlling a video camera to record a scene of the predefined sub-area of the monitored premises for at least a period of the temporary access.

14. The non-transient computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the predefined access plan includes a controlling of a door lock to unlock to initiate the temporary access, and to lock upon termination of the temporary access.

15. A method of accommodating temporary premises access by an alarm system controller, comprising:

receiving, by an interface of the alarm system controller, data providing information detailing an impending request for temporary access of a monitored premises by a delivery person;

determining, by an access module of the alarm system controller based on the data, a maximum length of access time for the temporary access of the delivery person to a predefined sub-area of the monitored premises without triggering an alarm event;

subsequent to receiving the data and determining the maximum length of access time, receiving an actual request originating from a delivery person device of the delivery person to request access to the monitored premises; and

allowing the temporary access at a time of receipt of the actual request for the temporary access for the maximum length of access time.

16. The method as claimed in claim 15 , further comprising determining a predefined access plan via utilizing the data to fill-in and complete a stored access plan.

17. The method as claimed in claim 16 , further comprising disregarding signals from at least one alarm point monitoring the predefined sub-area of the monitored premises, during the temporary access, to allow the temporary access without triggering the alarm event.

18. The method as claimed in claim 16 , further comprising determining the predefined access plan at a time in advance of the actual request for the temporary access.

19. The method as claimed in claim 16 , the predefined access plan including controlling a video camera to record a scene of the predefined sub-area of the monitored premises for at least a period of the temporary access.

20. The method as claimed in claim 16 , the predefined access plan including controlling of a door lock associated with a door to unlock the door to initiate the temporary access, and to lock the door upon termination of the temporary access.
