Abstract

The present disclosure provides high bulk tissue products, as well as an apparatus and methods for manufacturing the same. The tissue products provided herein not only have high bulk, but they also have improved surface smoothness, particularly compared to tissue products of similar basis weights.

Claims (16)

1. ″ rolled tissue product comprising a multi-ply tissue web spirally wound around a core, the multi-ply tissue web having a basis weight from 35 to 60 grams per square meter (gsm), a Stiffness Index from 4.0 to 8.0, wherein the rolled tissue product has a Roll Structure from 1.0 to 2.0.

2. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a geometric mean tensile (GMT) from 800 to 1,200 g/3″.

3. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a GMT from 900 to 1,100 g/3″.

4. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a geometric mean slope (GM Slope) less than 9,000 g/3″.

5. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a GM Slope from 4,000 to 8,000 g/3″.

6. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a sheet bulk from 15 to 20 cc/g.

7. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 having a roll bulk from 14 to 18 cc/g.

8. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 having a roll firmness from 8 to 10 mm.

9. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 having a roll bulk from 14 to 18 cc/g and a Roll Firmness from 8 to 10 mm.

10. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 having a Roll Structure from 1.2 to 1.8.

11. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a geometric mean stretch from 12 to 30 percent.

12. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a caliper from 600 to 1,000 μm.

13. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a Surface Smoothness S90 value from 70 to 95 μm.

14. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a basis weight from 38 to 50 gsm.

15. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web has a Stiffness Index from 5.0 to 7.0.

16. The rolled tissue product of claim 1 wherein the multi-ply tissue web comprises a first and a second through-air dried tissue ply.
