Abstract

Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for wireless communications. A base station may receive resource status information. The base station may use the resource status information for serving one or more network slices for a wireless device.

Claims (279)

1. A method comprising:

sending, by a first base station to a second base station, a resource status request message associated with the second base station;

receiving, by the first base station from the second base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated; and

receiving, based on the resource status request message and from the second base station, a resource status update message comprising:

a cell identifier of a first cell of the second base station;

a first network slice identifier of a first network slice associated with the first cell; and

a first resource status information element indicating available capacity of the first cell for the first network slice.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource status request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier of the first cell; or

the first network slice identifier of the first network slice.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource status request message comprises reporting periodicity information that indicates a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the resource status update message.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource status response message comprises at least one of:

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

a network slice reject cause value indicating that a traffic load of one or more network slices exceeds a threshold;

a handover reject cause value indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold; or

an information element indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the resource status response message further indicates that the resource status measurement for the first cell has been initiated.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates F1 interface load information.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, by the first base station and based on the first resource status information element, a handover decision for a wireless device; and

sending, by the first base station to the second base station and based on the handover decision for the wireless device, a message indicating a handover request for the wireless device.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates at least one of:

a radio resource status of the first network slice;

an F1 interface load indicator;

a hardware load indicator;

an NG interface load indicator;

a composite available capacity group; or

a network slice overload indicator.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, by the first base station and based on the first resource status information element, a decision on a multi-connectivity initiation for a wireless device; and

sending, by the first base station to the second base station and based on the decision on the multi-connectivity initiation for the wireless device, an addition request message for the multi-connectivity initiation for the wireless device.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the addition request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier;

a wireless device identifier of the wireless device;

the first network slice identifier; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the first network slice.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, by the first base station and based on the first resource status information element, a decision on a multi-connectivity modification for a wireless device; and

sending, by the first base station to the second base station and based on the decision on the multi-connectivity modification for the wireless device, a modification request message for the multi-connectivity modification for the wireless device.

12. A first base station comprising:

one or more processors;

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the first base station to:

send, to a second base station, a resource status request message associated with the second base station;

receive, from the second base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated; and

receive, based on the resource status request message and from the second base station, a resource status update message comprising:

a cell identifier of a first cell of the second base station;

a first network slice identifier of a first network slice associated with the first cell; and

a first resource status information element indicating available capacity of the first cell for the first network slice.

13. The first base station of claim 12 , wherein the resource status request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier of the first cell; or

the first network slice identifier of the first network slice.

14. The first base station of claim 12 , wherein the resource status request message comprises reporting periodicity information that indicates a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the resource status update message.

15. The first base station of claim 12 , wherein the resource status response message comprises at least one of:

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

a network slice reject cause value indicating that a traffic load of one or more network slices exceeds a threshold;

a handover reject cause value indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold; or

an information element indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold.

16. The first base station of claim 12 , wherein the resource status response message further indicates that the resource status measurement for the first cell has been initiated.

17. The first base station of claim 12 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates F1 interface load information.

18. The first base station of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the first base station to:

determine, based on the first resource status information element, a handover decision for a wireless device; and

send, to the second base station and based on the handover decision for the wireless device, a message indicating a handover request for the wireless device.

19. The first base station of claim 12 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates at least one of:

a radio resource status of the first network slice;

an F1 interface load indicator;

a hardware load indicator;

an NG interface load indicator;

a composite available capacity group; or

a network slice overload indicator.

20. The first base station of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the first base station to:

determine, based on the first resource status information element, a decision on a multi-connectivity initiation for a wireless device; and

send, to the second base station and based on the decision on the multi-connectivity initiation for the wireless device, an addition request message for the multi-connectivity initiation for the wireless device.

21. The first base station of claim 20 , wherein the addition request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier;

a wireless device identifier of the wireless device;

the first network slice identifier; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the first network slice.

22. The first base station of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the first base station to:

determine, based on the first resource status information element, a decision on a multi-connectivity modification for a wireless device; and

send, to the second base station and based on the decision on the multi-connectivity modification for the wireless device, a modification request message for the multi-connectivity modification for the wireless device.

23. A method comprising:

receiving, by a second base station from a first base station, a resource status request message associated with the second base station;

sending, by the second base station to the first base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated; and

sending, based on the resource status request message and to the first base station, a resource status update message comprising:

a cell identifier of a first cell of the second base station;

a first network slice identifier of a first network slice associated with the first cell; and

a first resource status information element indicating available capacity of the first cell for the first network slice.

24. The method of claim 23 , wherein the resource status request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier of the first cell; or

the first network slice identifier of the first network slice.

25. The method of claim 23 , wherein the resource status request message comprises reporting periodicity information that indicates a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the resource status update message.

26. The method of claim 23 , wherein the resource status response message comprises at least one of:

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

a network slice reject cause value indicating that a traffic load of one or more network slices exceeds a threshold;

a handover reject cause value indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold; or

an information element indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold.

27. The method of claim 23 , wherein the resource status response message further indicates that the resource status measurement for the first cell has been initiated.

28. The method of claim 23 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates F1 interface load information.

29. The method of claim 23 , further comprising:

receiving, by the second base station from the first base station, a message indicating a handover request for a wireless device.

30. The method of claim 23 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates at least one of:

a radio resource status of the first network slice;

an F1 interface load indicator;

a hardware load indicator;

an NG interface load indicator;

a composite available capacity group; or

a network slice overload indicator.

31. The method of claim 23 , further comprising:

receiving, by the second base station from the first base station, an addition request message for a multi-connectivity initiation for a wireless device.

32. The method of claim 31 , wherein the addition request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier;

a wireless device identifier of the wireless device;

the first network slice identifier; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the first network slice.

33. The method of claim 23 , further comprising:

receiving, by the second base station from the first base station, a modification request message for a multi-connectivity modification for a wireless device.

34. A second base station comprising:

one or more processors;

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the second base station to:

receive, from a first base station, a resource status request message associated with the second base station;

send, to the first base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated; and

send, based on the resource status request message and to the first base station, a resource status update message comprising:

a cell identifier of a first cell of the second base station;

a first network slice identifier of a first network slice associated with the first cell; and

a first resource status information element indicating available capacity of the first cell for the first network slice.

35. The second base station of claim 34 , wherein the resource status request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier of the first cell; or

the first network slice identifier of the first network slice.

36. The second base station of claim 34 , wherein the resource status request message comprises reporting periodicity information that indicates a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the resource status update message.

37. The second base station of claim 34 , wherein the resource status response message comprises at least one of:

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

a network slice reject cause value indicating that a traffic load of one or more network slices exceeds a threshold;

a handover reject cause value indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold; or

an information element indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold.

38. The second base station of claim 34 , wherein the resource status response message further indicates that the resource status measurement for the first cell has been initiated.

39. The second base station of claim 34 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates F1 interface load information.

40. The second base station of claim 34 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the second base station to:

receive, from the first base station, a message indicating a handover request for a wireless device.

41. The second base station of claim 34 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates at least one of:

a radio resource status of the first network slice;

an F1 interface load indicator;

a hardware load indicator;

an NG interface load indicator;

a composite available capacity group; or

a network slice overload indicator.

42. The second base station of claim 34 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the second base station to:

receive, from the first base station, an addition request message for a multi-connectivity initiation for a wireless device.

43. The second base station of claim 42 , wherein the addition request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier;

a wireless device identifier of the wireless device;

the first network slice identifier; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the first network slice.

44. The second base station of claim 34 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the second base station to:

receive, from the first base station, a modification request message for a multi-connectivity modification for a wireless device.

45. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, configure a first base station to:

send, to a second base station, a resource status request message associated with the second base station;

receive, from the second base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated; and

receive, based on the resource status request message and from the second base station, a resource status update message comprising:

a cell identifier of a first cell of the second base station;

a first network slice identifier of a first network slice associated with the first cell; and

a first resource status information element indicating available capacity of the first cell for the first network slice.

46. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the resource status request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier of the first cell; or

the first network slice identifier of the first network slice.

47. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the resource status request message comprises reporting periodicity information that indicates a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the resource status update message.

48. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the resource status response message comprises at least one of:

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

a network slice reject cause value indicating that a traffic load of one or more network slices exceeds a threshold;

a handover reject cause value indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold; or

an information element indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold.

49. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the resource status response message further indicates that the resource status measurement for the first cell has been initiated.

50. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates F1 interface load information.

51. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the first base station to:

determine, based on the first resource status information element, a handover decision for a wireless device; and

send, to the second base station and based on the handover decision for the wireless device, a message indicating a handover request for the wireless device.

52. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates at least one of:

a radio resource status of the first network slice;

an F1 interface load indicator;

a hardware load indicator;

an NG interface load indicator;

a composite available capacity group; or

a network slice overload indicator.

53. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the first base station to:

determine, based on the first resource status information element, a decision on a multi-connectivity initiation for a wireless device; and

send, to the second base station and based on the decision on the multi-connectivity initiation for the wireless device, an addition request message for the multi-connectivity initiation for the wireless device.

54. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 53 , wherein the addition request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier;

a wireless device identifier of the wireless device;

the first network slice identifier; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the first network slice.

55. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 45 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the first base station to:

determine, based on the first resource status information element, a decision on a multi-connectivity modification for a wireless device; and

send, to the second base station and based on the decision on the multi-connectivity modification for the wireless device, a modification request message for the multi-connectivity modification for the wireless device.

56. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, configure a second base station to:

receive, from a first base station, a resource status request message associated with the second base station;

send, to the first base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated; and

send, based on the resource status request message and to the first base station, a resource status update message comprising:

a cell identifier of a first cell of the second base station;

a first network slice identifier of a first network slice associated with the first cell; and

a first resource status information element indicating available capacity of the first cell for the first network slice.

57. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 56 , wherein the resource status request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier of the first cell; or

the first network slice identifier of the first network slice.

58. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 56 , wherein the resource status request message comprises reporting periodicity information that indicates a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the resource status update message.

59. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 56 , wherein the resource status response message comprises at least one of:

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

a network slice reject cause value indicating that a traffic load of one or more network slices exceeds a threshold;

a handover reject cause value indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold; or

an information element indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold.

60. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 56 , wherein the resource status response message further indicates that the resource status measurement for the first cell has been initiated.

61. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 56 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates F1 interface load information.

62. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 56 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the second base station to:

receive, from the first base station, a message indicating a handover request for a wireless device.

63. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 56 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates at least one of:

a radio resource status of the first network slice;

an F1 interface load indicator;

a hardware load indicator;

an NG interface load indicator;

a composite available capacity group; or

a network slice overload indicator.

64. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 56 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the second base station to:

receive, from the first base station, an addition request message for a multi-connectivity initiation for a wireless device.

65. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 64 , wherein the addition request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier;

a wireless device identifier of the wireless device;

the first network slice identifier; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the first network slice.

66. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 56 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further configure the second base station to:

receive, from the first base station, a modification request message for a multi-connectivity modification for a wireless device.

67. A system comprising:

a first base station; and

a second base station,

wherein the first base station is configured to:

send, to the second base station, a resource status request message associated with the second base station, and

wherein the second base station is configured to:

send, to the first base station, a resource status response message indicating that a resource status measurement has been initiated; and

send, based on the resource status request message to the first base station, a resource status update message comprising:

a cell identifier of a first cell of the second base station;

a first network slice identifier of a first network slice associated with the first cell; and

a first resource status information element indicating available capacity of the first cell for the first network slice.

68. The system of claim 67 , wherein the resource status request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier of the first cell; or

the first network slice identifier of the first network slice.

69. The system of claim 67 , wherein the resource status request message comprises reporting periodicity information that indicates a time duration for the second base station to wait before sending the resource status update message.

70. The system of claim 67 , wherein the resource status response message comprises at least one of:

a network slice identifier of an accepted network slice;

a network slice identifier of a rejected network slice;

a network slice reject cause value indicating that a traffic load of one or more network slices exceeds a threshold;

a handover reject cause value indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold; or

an information element indicating that the traffic load of the one or more network slices exceeds the threshold.

71. The system of claim 67 , wherein the resource status response message further indicates that the resource status measurement for the first cell has been initiated.

72. The system of claim 67 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates F1 interface load information.

73. The system of claim 67 , wherein the first base station is further configured to:

determine, based on the first resource status information element, a handover decision for a wireless device; and

send, to the second base station and based on the handover decision for the wireless device, a message indicating a handover request for the wireless device.

74. The system of claim 67 , wherein the first resource status information element further indicates at least one of:

a radio resource status of the first network slice;

an F1 interface load indicator;

a hardware load indicator;

an NG interface load indicator;

a composite available capacity group; or

a network slice overload indicator.

75. The system of claim 67 , wherein the first base station is further configured to:

determine, based on the first resource status information element, a decision on a multi-connectivity initiation for a wireless device; and

send, to the second base station and based on the decision on the multi-connectivity initiation for the wireless device, an addition request message for the multi-connectivity initiation for the wireless device.

76. The system of claim 75 , wherein the addition request message comprises at least one of:

the cell identifier;

a wireless device identifier of the wireless device;

the first network slice identifier; or

one or more packet flow identifiers of one or more packet flows associated with the first network slice.

77. The system of claim 67 , wherein the first base station is further configured to:

determine, based on the first resource status information element, a decision on a multi-connectivity modification for a wireless device; and

send, to the second base station and based on the decision on the multi-connectivity modification for the wireless device, a modification request message for the multi-connectivity modification for the wireless device.
