Abstract

A lighting system includes an LED controller, and an LED array which includes first and second LED sub-arrays, wherein the LED array is operatively coupled to the LED controller. The first and second wavelength spectrums provided by the first and second LED sub-arrays, respectively, are adjustable in response to adjusting an input signal provided to the antenna.

Claims (42)

1 . A lighting system, comprising:

a light emitting diode (LED) array comprising:

a first LED sub-array configured to provide a first wavelength spectrum, the first sub-array comprising first, second, and third LEDs, and

a second LED sub-array configured to provide a second wavelength spectrum; and

an LED controller configured to:

receive an input signal,

adjust the first wavelength spectrum and the second wavelength spectrum based at least in part on the input signal, and

adjust an intensity of light from one or more of the first, second, and third LEDs, the intensity adjusted in relation to an intensity of another of the first, second, and third LEDs and based at least in part on the input signal.

2 . The lighting system of claim 1 , further comprising:

an antenna configured to wirelessly receive the input signal and provide the input signal to the LED controller.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first, second and third LEDs are configured to emit first, second and third colors of light, respectively.

4 . The system of claim 3 ,

wherein the second LED sub-array comprises fourth, fifth and LEDs configured to emit fourth, fifth and sixth colors of light, respectively, and

wherein the LED controller is further configured to adjust an intensity of light from one or more of the fourth, fifth and sixth LEDs in relation to an intensity of another of the fourth, fifth and sixth LEDs and based at least in part on the input signal.

5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to drive the first and second wavelength spectrums to match the action spectrum of the physiological activity of a plant.

6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to drive the first and second wavelength spectrums to match the action spectrum of the physiological activity of first and second plants, respectively.

7 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a memory in communication with the LED controller and comprising instructions thereon, that when executed by the LED controller, causes the LED controller to selectively turn on and off the first, second, and third LEDs as a function of time.

8 . The system of claim 7 , wherein first and second wavelength spectrum provided by the first and second LED sub-arrays, respectively, are determined at least in part by the instructions stored on the memory.

9 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a sensor operatively coupled to the LED controller, wherein the operation of the LED controller is adjustable in response to a sense signal provided by the sensor.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the sensor is responsive to a condition proximate to the lighting system.

11 . A lighting system comprising:

a memory configured to receive a control signal and store instructions thereon based at least in part on the control signal; and

an LED controller configured to execute the instructions on the memory,

wherein the instructions, when executed by the LED controller causes the LED controller to:

adjust a first wavelength spectrum of a first LED array and a second wavelength spectrum of a second LED array based at least in part on the control signal, and

adjust an intensity of light from one or more of a first, second, and third LED of the first LED array, the intensity adjusted in relation to an intensity of another of the first, second, and third LEDs and based at least in part on the control signal.

12 . The lighting system of claim 11 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the LED controller, causes the LED controller to selectively turn on and off the first, second, and third LEDs as a function of time according to a first recipe.

13 . The lighting system of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the LED controller, causes the LED controller to selectively turn on and off the first, second, and third LEDs as a function of time according to a second recipe.

14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein one of the first and second recipe is executed by the LED controller based on the control signal.

15 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the first recipe drives the first and second wavelength spectrums to match the physiological activity of a plant.

16 . A lighting system, comprising:

a first LED sub-array configured to provide a first wavelength spectrum;

a second LED sub-array configured to provide a second wavelength spectrum;

a first sensor; and

an LED controller operatively coupled to the first LED sub-array, the second LED sub-array, and the first sensor, the LED controller being configured to:

determine the first wavelength spectrum and the second wavelength spectrum in response to a first sense signal provided by the first sensor; and

drive the first and second wavelength spectrums to match physiological activity of a plant.

17 . The system of claim 16 , further comprising an antenna configured to flow information corresponding to the first sense signal to a remote device.

18 . The system of claim 16 , further comprising a second sensor in communication with the LED controller and configured to provide a second sense signal to the LED controller.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the LED controller is further configured to adjust the first and second wavelength spectrums based at least in part on the second sense signal.

20 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the LED controller is further configured to adjust an intensity of light emitted by the first and second LED sub-arrays based at least in part on the first and second sense signals.
