Abstract

A method and device for automatically increasing the spectral bandwidth of an audio signal including generating a “mapping” (or “prediction”) matrix based on the analysis of a reference wideband signal and a reference narrowband signal, the mapping matrix being a transformation matrix to predict high frequency energy from a low frequency energy envelope, generating an energy envelope analysis of an input narrowband audio signal, generating a resynthesized noise signal by processing a random noise signal with the mapping matrix and the envelope analysis, high-pass filtering the resynthesized noise signal, and summing the high-pass filtered resynthesized noise signal with the input narrowband audio signal. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Claims (30)

1. A system, comprising:

an eye glass element, wherein the eyeglass element includes two optical elements, wherein each optical element is configured to be placed before a user's eye when the eyeglass element is used, and wherein each optical element is configured to be transparent so that a user can see through the optical element;

a first microphone connected to the eye glass element on a first side of the eye glass element, wherein the first microphone generates a first acoustic signal;

a second microphone connected to the eye glass element on a second side of the eye glass element, wherein the first side is configured to be on the left side of a user's head when the eye glass computational system is used, and wherein the second side is configured to be on the right side of a user's head when the eyeglass computational system is used, wherein the second microphone generates a second acoustic signal;

a location unit configured to determine the location of the system;

a memory that stores instructions; and

a processor configured to execute the instructions to perform operations, the operations comprising:

determining whether the user is speaking by analyzing the first and second acoustic signals or modifications of the first and second acoustic signals;

extracting an audio signal of the user's voice;

analyzing the audio signal to determine a voice command; and

initiating a response to the voice command.

2. The system of claim 1 , further including a speaker.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise sending a signal to the speaker.

4. The system of claim 3 , further including:

an earphone.

5. The system of claim 4 , where the earphone is wirelessly connected to the eyeglass computational system.

6. The system according to claim 5 , where the earphone further includes:

an ambient microphone.

7. The system according to claim 6 , where the earphone further includes:

an ear canal microphone.

8. The system according to claim 7 , where the earphone further includes:

a memory.

9. The system according to claim 8 , where the earphone further includes:

ear sealing device.

10. The system according to claim 9 , where the speaker is part of the earphone.

11. The system according to claim 10 , where the earphone further includes:

a user interface.

12. The system according to claim 11 , wherein the operations further comprise

determining a first location of the system;

storing the location in the memory.
