Electronic smoking device with liquid reservoir including an actuator

1. An electronic smoking device comprising:

a battery portion including an electric power supply;

an atomizer/liquid reservoir portion having a mouthpiece in an end, the atomizer/liquid reservoir portion including:

a liquid reservoir adapted for accommodating a liquid;

an atomizer arranged at a first end face of the liquid reservoir and operable when connected to the power supply to atomize the liquid to create an aerosol, wherein the atomizer comprises at least one opening adapted for providing the aerosol to the mouthpiece, wherein the atomizer comprises a printed circuit board including the opening, the opening having metallized walls; and

an actuator movable inside the liquid reservoir, the actuator adapted to supply the liquid to the at least one opening, when the actuator is moved towards the first end face.

2. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein the wall is electrically connected to a contact portion, the contact portion configured for electrical connection to the power supply.

3. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein the atomizer includes a mesh.

4. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein a size of the opening is a function of a viscosity of the liquid and a vaporization rate of the liquid by the atomizer.

5. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein the atomizer is integrally formed with the liquid reservoir.

6. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein the atomizer completely covers the first end face of the liquid reservoir.

7. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein at least one air inlet is located at an edge of the atomizer opposed to the liquid reservoir.

8. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein the liquid is based on propylene-glycol.

9. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein the liquid includes at least one of glycerol, water, nicotine, and natural extracts.

10. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein the actuator comprises a piston controllable by an airflow sensor or a button.

11. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein the actuator is controlled to maintain position when not being actuated.

12. The electronic smoking device of claim 1 , wherein the actuator and the atomizer are electrically connected in parallel with the power supply.

13. A cartomizer operable to be connected to a power supply for an electronic smoking device, the cartomizer comprising:

a liquid reservoir adapted for accommodating a liquid;

an atomizer arranged at a first end face of the liquid reservoir and operable when connected to the power supply to atomize the liquid to create an aerosol, wherein the atomizer comprises at least one opening adapted for providing the aerosol to a mouthpiece of the electronic smoking device, wherein the atomizer comprises a printed circuit board including the opening, the opening having metallized walls; and

an actuator movable inside the liquid reservoir, the actuator adapted to supply the liquid to the at least one opening, when the actuator is moved towards the first end face.

14. The cartomizer of claim 13 , wherein the wall is electrically connected to a contact portion, the contact portion configured for electrical connection with the power supply.

15. The cartomizer of claim 13 , wherein the atomizer includes a mesh.

16. The cartomizer of claim 13 , wherein a size of the opening is a function of a viscosity of the liquid and a vaporization rate of the liquid by the atomizer.

17. The cartomizer of claim 13 , wherein the actuator comprises a piston controllable by an airflow sensor or a button.

18. The cartomizer of claim 13 , wherein the actuator is controlled such that it keeps its actual position when not being actuated.
