Abstract

Systems and methods are described for predicting a future topic of a current conversation and providing content associated with the predicted topic. A topic may be predicted based on a first part of a current conversation between a first user and a second user and information about the first user and the second user. Content associated with the predicted topic may be identified, and information about the identified content may be provided to a device associated with the first user or the second user.

Claims (58)

1. A method of recommending content, the method comprising:

receiving a first part of a conversation between a first user and a second user;

retrieving user profile information of the first user and user profile information of the second user, wherein:

the user profile information of each of the first user and the second user comprises at least one of a content viewing history of the respective user, an age of the respective user, a gender of the respective user, or a relationship between the first user and the second user; and

the user profile information of the first user comprises a stickiness score of the first user, wherein the stickiness score corresponds to a length of a time period before a first topic becomes associated with a second topic in a plurality of prior conversations of the first user with a plurality of other users; and

predicting a topic of a second part of the conversation between the first user and the second user by identifying a prior communication, wherein:

the prior communication is identified based on the received first part of the conversation, the user profile information of the first user, and the user profile information of the second user;

the predicted topic is a future topic of conversation that is a different topic than the first topic and the second topic; and

the second part of the conversation occurs at a future time;

predicting when the first user will discuss the predicted topic based on the stickiness score of the first user that corresponds to the length of the time period before the first topic becomes associated with the second topic in the plurality of prior conversations of the first user with the plurality of other users;

identifying content associated with the predicted topic; and

providing information about the identified content, wherein the timing of when to provide the information is selected based on the predicting when the first user will discuss the predicted topic based on the stickiness score of the first user.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first part of the conversation corresponds to a conversation captured by a listening device.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first part of the conversation corresponds to a conversation on a text messaging platform.

4. The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising:

accessing a database of classified information about a plurality of prior conversations between users and information of the users, wherein the information is classified using a first data classification algorithm, and

wherein the predicting the topic of the second part of the conversation comprises using a second data classification algorithm to predict the topic of the second part of the conversation based on the received first part of the conversation, the information about the first user and the second user, and the accessed database of classified information.

5. The method of claim 4 , the method further comprising:

updating the database of classified information with information about the conversation between the first user and the second user and the information about the first user and the second user, wherein the information about the conversation between the first user and the second user and the information about the first user and the second user is classified using the first data classification algorithm.

6. The method of claim 1 , the method further comprising:

determining the number of topics of the received first part of the conversation,

wherein if it is determined that there is one and only one topic of the received first part of the conversation, the predicting the topic of the second part of the conversation comprises predicting a sub-topic of the topic of the received first part of the conversation, and

wherein if it is determined that there is more than one topic of the received first part of the conversation, the predicting the topic of the second part of the conversation comprises predicting a new topic related to the more than one topic of the received first part of the conversation.

7. The method of claim 1 ,

wherein the identifying of the prior communication comprises identifying the prior communication of another user with user profile information similar to the user profile information of at least one of the first user and the second user.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the information about the identified content comprises providing the information about the identified content to a device associated with at least one of the first user and the second user.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the providing the information about the identified content comprises providing the information about the identified content to a device associated with a user other than the first user or the second user.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one individual prior conversation of the plurality of prior conversations is a prior conversation of at least one of the first user and the second user.

11. A system for recommending content, the system comprising control circuitry configured to:

receive a first part of a conversation between a first user and a second user;

retrieve user profile information of the first user and user profile information of the second user, wherein:

the user profile information of each of the first user and the second user comprises at least one of a content viewing history of the respective user, an age of the respective user, a gender of the respective user, or a relationship between the first user and the second user; and

the user profile information of the first user comprises a stickiness score of the first user, wherein the stickiness score corresponds to a length of a time period before a first topic becomes associated with a second topic in a plurality of prior conversations of the first user with a plurality of other users;

predict a topic of a second part of the conversation between the first user and the second user by identifying a prior communication, wherein:

the prior communication is identified based on the received first part of the conversation, the user profile information of the first user, and the user profile information of the second user;

the predicted topic is a future topic of conversation that is a different topic than the first topic and the second topic; and

the second part of the conversation occurs at a future time;

predict when the first user will discuss the predicted topic based on the stickiness score of the first user that corresponds to the length of the time period before the first topic becomes associated with the second topic in the plurality of prior conversations of the respective user with the plurality of other users;

identify content associated with the predicted topic; and

provide information about the identified content, wherein the timing of when to provide the information is determined using the stickiness score.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the system further comprises: a listening device configured to capture the first part of the conversation.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the system further comprises:

a user device having a text messaging platform, wherein the user device in configured to capture the first part of the conversation on the text messaging platform.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

access a database of classified information about a plurality of prior conversations between users and information of the users, wherein the information is classified using a first data classification algorithm; and

use a second data classification algorithm to predict the topic of the second part of the conversation based on the received first part of the conversation, the information about the first user and the second user, and the accessed database of classified information.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

update the database of classified information with information about the conversation between the first user and the second user and the information about the first user and the second user, wherein the information about the conversation between the first user and the second user and the information about the first user and the second user is classified using the first data classification algorithm.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

determine the number of topics of the received first part of the conversation,

wherein if it is determined that there is one and only one topic of the received first part of the conversation, the control circuitry is further configured to predict a sub-topic of the topic of the received first part of the conversation as the predicted topic, and

wherein if it is determined that there is more than one topic of the received first part of the conversation, the control circuitry is further configured to predict a new topic related to the more than one topic of the received first part of the conversation as the predicted topic.

17. The system of claim 11 , wherein the identifying of the prior communication comprises identifying the prior communication of another user with user profile information similar to the user profile information of at least one of the first user and the second user.

18. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

provide the information about the identified content to a device associated with at least one of the first user and the second user.

19. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

provide the information about the identified content to a device associated with a user other than the first user or the second user.

20. The system of claim 11 , wherein at least one individual prior conversation of the plurality of prior conversations is a prior conversation of at least one of the first user and the second user.
