Abstract

Among other things, in an aspect, a method includes receiving an indication of a condition at a first component of a computer system. The method also includes performing a search of one or more archives that identifies, among artifacts of at least one of the archives, information relevant to the condition. The method also includes displaying, in a user interface, information determined based on at least one of the artifacts in association with a visual representation indication of the condition.

Claims (28)

1 .- 54 . (canceled)

55 . A system for displaying messages relevant to system administration, the system comprising:

a processor coupled to a non-transitory memory containing instructions executable by the processor to cause the system to:

receive an indication of a condition at a first component of a computer system;

perform a search of one or more archives that identifies, among artifacts of at least one of the archives, information relevant to the condition; and

output, via a user interface, information determined based on at least one artifact in association with a visual representation indication of the condition, wherein a portion or subset of the information is displayed to a user via the user interface based, at least in part, on a predefined set of criteria governing the relevancy of information to be displayed, including at least one of user-specified criteria and system-specific criteria.

56 . The system of claim 55 , wherein the user interface comprises a first portion that includes information relevant to the condition, and a second portion that includes the information determined based on the at least one artifact.

57 . The system of claim 55 , wherein at least some of the identified artifacts include content describing a previous instance of the condition experienced by the first component.

58 . The system of claim 57 , wherein the non-transitory memory contains instructions executable by the processor to further cause the system to identify, among the artifacts relevant to the condition, an artifact identified as containing information describing how the condition was resolved during the previous instance of the condition.

59 . The system of claim 55 , wherein the search that identifies artifacts relevant to the condition identifies artifacts relevant to an instance of the condition experienced by a second component of the computer system, the second component being identified as matching at least one similarity criterion to the first component of the computer system.

60 . The system of claim 55 , wherein the non-transitory memory contains instructions executable by the processor to further cause the system to generate a search query based on keywords identified as relevant to the indicated condition.

61 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the non-transitory memory contains instructions executable by the processor to further cause the system to output, via the user interface, a visual representation of the search query, the visual representation enabling a modification of the keywords of the search query.

62 . The system of claim 60 , wherein the non-transitory memory contains instructions executable by the processor to further cause the system to output, via the user interface, controls that enable a user to save and recall the search query.

63 . The system of claim 55 , wherein the non-transitory memory contains instructions executable by the processor to further cause the system to output, via the user interface, one or more users identified as associated with at least some of the artifacts.

64 . The system of claim 55 , wherein the user-specified criteria comprises user selected systems and/or conditions to be monitored and the system-specified criteria comprises system-selected systems and/or conditions to be monitored.

65 . A method for displaying messages relevant to system administration, the method comprising:

receiving an indication of a condition at a first component of a computer system;

performing a search of one or more archives that identifies, among artifacts of at least one of the archives, information relevant to the condition; and

outputting, via a user interface, information determined based on at least one artifact in association with a visual representation indication of the condition, wherein a portion or subset of the information is displayed to a user via the user interface based, at least in part, on a predefined set of criteria governing the relevancy of information to be displayed, including at least one of user-specified criteria and system-specific criteria.

66 . The method of claim 65 , wherein the user interface comprises a first portion that includes information relevant to the condition, and a second portion that includes the information determined based on the at least one artifact.

67 . The method of claim 65 , wherein at least some of the identified artifacts include content describing a previous instance of the condition experienced by the first component.

68 . The method of claim 67 , further comprising identifying, among the artifacts relevant to the condition, an artifact identified as containing information describing how the condition was resolved during the previous instance of the condition.

69 . The method of claim 65 , wherein the search that identifies artifacts relevant to the condition identifies artifacts relevant to an instance of the condition experienced by a second component of the computer system, the second component being identified as matching at least one similarity criterion to the first component of the computer system.

70 . The method of claim 65 , further comprising generating a search query based on keywords identified as relevant to the indicated condition.

71 . The method of claim 70 , further comprising outputting, via the user interface, a visual representation of the search query, the visual representation enabling a modification of the keywords of the search query.

72 . The method of claim 70 , further comprising outputting, via the user interface, controls that enable a user to save and recall the search query.

73 . The method of claim 65 , further comprising outputting, via the user interface, one or more users identified as being associated with at least some of the artifacts.

74 . The method of claim 65 , wherein the user-specified criteria comprises user selected systems and/or conditions to be monitored and the system-specified criteria comprises system-selected systems and/or conditions to be monitored.
