Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for monitoring the status of a touchscreen at a display assembly. Signals are transmitted to the touchscreen. Where signals to the touchscreen are interrupted for at least a predetermined amount of time, a type and location of damage are identified. A visual representation reflecting the type and location of damage at the touchscreen is generated.

Claims (39)

1. A method for monitoring the status of a touchscreen of a display assembly, said method comprising the steps of:

receiving signals from the touchscreen of the display assembly;

determining that the signals received from the touchscreen are modified in a manner indicating persistent touch input for at least a predetermined amount of time;

determining that a surface obstruction has occurred at the touchscreen and that the touchscreen is intact and otherwise operable;

identifying a location of the surface obstruction based upon the modifications to the received signals; and

generating a visual representation at a remote device indicating existence of the surface obstruction and the location of the surface obstruction at the touchscreen.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of:

generating a request for repair indicating the existence of the surface obstruction, the location of the surface obstruction, and identifying information for the display assembly.

3. The method of claim 2 further comprising the steps of:

transmitting said request for repair to an unskilled team.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of:

determining that the received signals are interrupted in a manner inconsistent with touch input over a portion of the touchscreen for at least a period of time;

determining physical damage has occurred to the portion of the touchscreen; and

generating a visual representation at the remote device indicating existence of the physical damage at the portion of the touchscreen.

5. The method of claim 4 further comprising the steps of:

generating a request for repair indicating the existence of the physical damage, the portion of the touchscreen physically damaged, and identifying information for the display assembly; and

transmitting said request for repair to a skilled team, wherein said request for repair comprises one or more identifiers for replacement parts for the touchscreen.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of:

determining that the received signals are persistently interrupted over an entire touch input area of said touchscreen for at least a period of time;

determining that a failure event has occurred for the touchscreen; and

generating a visual representation at the remote device indicating existence of the failure event at the touchscreen.

7. The method of claim 6 further comprising the steps of:

generating a request for repair indicating the existence of the failure event and identifying information for the display assembly; and

transmitting said request for repair to a skilled team, wherein said request for repair comprises one or more identifiers for replacement touchscreens.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein:

said display assembly comprises an open loop pathway for ambient air.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein:

said display assembly comprises a closed loop pathway for circulating gas.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein:

said visual representation is displayed at a network operations center in electronic communication with said display assembly and comprising said remote device.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein:

said remote device comprises a personal electronic device in electronic communication with said display assembly; and

said visual representation is displayed at said personal electronic device.

12. The method of claim 1 wherein:

said touchscreen is configured to utilize in-cell concurrent capacitive imaging technology.

13. The method of claim 1 further comprising the steps of:

energizing an entire array for the touchscreen during operation;

monitoring the touchscreen for an initial period of time to establish steady-state behavior; and

determining that signals to the touchscreen are modified where signal input varies from the established steady-state behavior.
