Abstract

A mobile health device for providing a health service includes a health sensor that monitors values of a health metric of a person, a power control component that controls supplying power to the health sensor and to other components of the mobile health device, and a motion sensor, coupled to the power control component, that detects a motion of the mobile health device, where the motion sensor sends a communication to the power control component in response to detection of the motion to activate the other components of the mobile health device. The communication may specify a duration of the motion, and the power control component may activate at least one of the other components of the mobile health device based on the duration. The other components may include a network interface component that communicates with a remotely coupled device to provide the health service to the person.

Claims (38)

1 .- 80 . (canceled)

81 . A mobile health device for providing a health service for a person, comprising:

a health sensor that monitors values of a health metric of the person;

a power control component that controls supplying power to the health sensor and to other components of the mobile health device; and

a motion sensor, coupled to the power control component, that detects a motion of the mobile health device, wherein the motion sensor sends a communication to the power control component in response to detection of the motion to activate the other components of the mobile health device.

82 . The mobile health device of claim 81 , wherein the communication specifies a duration of the motion, and wherein the power control component activates at least one of the other components of the mobile health device based on the duration.

83 . The mobile health device of claim 81 , wherein the communication specifies a direction of the motion, and wherein the power control component activates at least one of the other components of the mobile health device based on the direction.

84 . The mobile health device of claim 81 , wherein the other components include a network interface component that communicates with a remotely coupled device to provide the health service to the person.

85 . The mobile device of claim 81 , wherein the communication is generated based on a comparison between the motion and a motion profile indicative of motion patterns associated with the health device.

86 . The mobile health device of claim 81 , wherein the mobile health device is a hand-held device.

87 . The mobile health device of claim 81 , wherein the health sensor has a physical interconnect for connecting with a health accessory employed by the health sensor to monitor values of health metrics, and wherein the communication is generated based on detection of the health accessory becoming connected to the physical interconnect.

88 . For a mobile health device including a health sensor that monitors values of health metrics of a person, and a power control component that controls supplying power to the health sensor and to other components of the mobile health device, a method of providing a health service for the person comprising:

detecting motion of the mobile health device;

sending a communication to the power control component corresponding to detection of the motion; and

the power control component activating at least one of the other components of the mobile health device based on a communication.

89 . The method of claim 88 , wherein the communication specifies a duration of the motion, and wherein the power control component activates the at least one of the other components based on the duration.

90 . The method of claim 88 , wherein the communication specifies a direction of the motion, and wherein the power control component activates the at least one of the other components based on the direction.

91 . The method of claim 88 , wherein the at least one of the other components includes a network interface component that communicates with a remotely coupled device to provide the health service to the person.

92 . The method of claim 88 , wherein the health device has a motion profile indicative of motion patterns associated with the health device, the method further comprising:

comparing the motion to the motion profile; and

generating the communication based on the comparison.

93 . The method of claim 88 , wherein the mobile health device is a hand-held device.

94 . The method of claim 88 , wherein the health sensor has a physical interconnect for connecting with a health accessory employed by the health sensor to monitor the values of the health metric, the method further comprising:

detecting when the health accessory becomes connected to the physical interconnect, wherein the communication is generated based on detection of the health accessory becoming connected to the physical interconnect.

95 . For a mobile health device including a health sensor that monitors values of health metrics of a person, and a power control component that controls supplying power to the health sensor and to other components of the mobile health device, non-transitory computer-readable media having software stored thereon that provides a health service for a person, the software comprising:

executable code that detects a motion of the mobile health device;

executable code that sends a communication to the power control component corresponding to detection of the motion; and

executable code that controls the power control component to activate at least one of the other components of the mobile health device based on the communication.

96 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 95 , wherein the communication specifies a duration of the motion, and wherein the power control component activates the at least one of the other components of the mobile health device based on the duration.

97 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 95 , wherein the communication specifies a direction of the motion, and wherein the power control component activates the at least one of the components of the mobile health device based on the direction.

98 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 95 , wherein the at least one of the components includes a network interface component that communicates with a remotely coupled device to provide the health service to the person.

99 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 95 , wherein the health device has a motion profile indicative of motion patterns associated with the health device, the software further comprising:

executable code that compares the motion to the motion profile; and

executable code that generates the communication based on the comparison.

100 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 95 , wherein the health sensor has a physical interconnect for connecting with a health accessory employed by the health sensor to monitor the values of the health metric, the software further comprising:

executable code that detects when the health accessory becomes connected to the physical interconnect, and

executable code that generates the communication based on detection of the health accessory becoming connected to the physical interconnect.

101 .- 150 . (canceled)
