Abstract

Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a bottom portion having an outer surface, and a plurality of ports in the bottom portion. The plurality of ports may include a first set of ports arranged in a first arc and a second set of ports arranged in a second arc. Other examples and embodiments may be described and claimed.

Claims (35)

1 . A golf club head comprising:

a body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, and a bottom portion having an outer surface;

a plurality of ports extending through the outer surface of the bottom portion; and

a plurality of weight portions, each weight portion engaged in one of the plurality of ports,

wherein the plurality of ports comprises a first set of ports arranged in a first arc extending from a location at or proximate to the toe portion to a location at or proximate to the heel portion and a second set of ports arranged in a second arc extending from a location at or proximate to the toe portion to a location at or proximate to the heel portion, a minimum distance between the first arc and a face portion being less than a minimum distance between the second arc and the face portion.

2 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first arc is convex relative to the face portion.

3 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the second arc is concave relative to the face portion.

4 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first arc is convex relative to the face portion and the second arc is concave relative to the face portion.

5 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein the first set of ports includes at least four ports and the second set of ports includes at least four ports.

6 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein each pair of adjacent ports of the first set of ports are spaced apart by a fixed distance of less than a diameter of either of the pair of adjacent ports.

7 . A golf club head as defined in claim 1 , wherein each pair of adjacent ports of the second set of ports are spaced apart by a fixed distance of less than a diameter of either of the pair of adjacent ports.

8 . A golf club head comprising:

a body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, and a bottom portion having an outer surface;

a plurality of ports in the bottom portion; and

a plurality of weight portions, each weight portion engaged in one of the plurality of ports,

wherein the plurality of ports comprises a first set of ports arranged in a first arc extending from a location at or proximate to the toe portion to a location at or proximate to the heel portion and a second set of ports arranged in a second arc extending from a location at or proximate to the toe portion to a location at or proximate to the heel portion, a minimum distance between the first arc and a face portion being less than a minimum distance between the second arc and the face portion,

wherein the first arc extends more than 50% of a maximum toe-to-heel distance across the bottom portion, and the second arc extends more than 50% of a maximum toe-to-heel distance across the bottom portion, and

wherein the golf club head has a club head volume greater than or equal to 300 cc.

9 . A golf club head as defined in claim 8 , wherein the plurality of ports are substantially similarly spaced apart.

10 . A golf club head as defined in claim 8 , wherein each pair of adjacent ports of the plurality of ports are spaced apart by a fixed distance of less than a diameter of either one of the pair of adjacent ports.

11 . A golf club head as defined in claim 8 , wherein each port is defined by a bore having a bore opening in the outer surface of the bottom portion and a bore wall extending into the body portion from the bore opening.

12 . A golf club head as defined in claim 8 further comprising a weight port region in the bottom portion, the plurality of ports located within the weight port region.

13 . A golf club head as defined in claim 8 further comprising a transition region between the plurality of ports and the face portion.

14 . A golf club head as defined in claim 8 , wherein the first set of ports comprises at least three ports, and the second set of ports comprises at least three ports.

15 . A golf club head comprising:

a body portion having a front portion, a rear portion, a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, and a bottom portion having an outer surface;

a weight port region in the bottom portion;

a plurality of ports in the weight port region; and

a plurality of weight portions, each weight portion engaged in one of the plurality of ports,

wherein the plurality of ports comprises a first set of ports arranged in a first arc extending from a location at or proximate to the toe portion to a location at or proximate to the heel portion and a second set of ports arranged in a second arc extending from a location at or proximate to the toe portion to a location at or proximate to the heel portion, a minimum distance between the first arc and a face portion being less than a minimum distance between the second arc and the face portion.

16 . A golf club head as defined in claim 15 , wherein the first arc extends more than 50% of a maximum toe-to-heel distance across the bottom portion.

17 . A golf club head as defined in claim 15 , wherein the second arc extends more than 50% of a maximum toe-to-heel distance across the bottom portion.

18 . A golf club head as defined in claim 15 , wherein the first arc extends more than 50% of a maximum toe-to-heel distance across the bottom portion, and the second arc extends more than 50% of a maximum toe-to-heel distance across the bottom portion.

19 . A golf club head as defined in claim 15 further comprising a transition region surrounding the weight port region.

20 . A golf club head as defined in claim 15 further comprising a skirt portion between the top portion and the bottom portion.
