Abstract

Materials and methods of manufacturing intraocular lenses, including polymeric materials for the intraocular lenses, fluids for intraocular lenses, and adhesives for intraocular lenses. The intraocular lenses can include an optic portion and a peripheral region in fluid communication.

Claims (20)

1. An adhesive formulation, comprising:

trifluoroethyl methacrylate;

at least one of butyl acrylate and n-butyl methacrylate;

at least one of phenylethyl acrylate and phenylethyl methacrylate; and

a reactive acrylic monomer diluent,

wherein the reactive acrylic monomer diluent is 23% to 43% of the adhesive formulation, and

wherein the reactive acrylic monomer diluent is 1-adamantyl methacrylate (ADMA).

2. The adhesive formulation of claim 1 , further comprising a UV blocker.

3. The adhesive formulation of claim 1 , further comprising a photoinitiator.

4. The adhesive formulation of claim 3 , wherein the photoinitiator is 2% of the adhesive formulation.

5. The adhesive formulation of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive is configured to be cured by UV light.

6. The adhesive formulation of claim 1 , further comprising hydroxyl ethyl acrylate.

7. An adhesive formulation, comprising:

a first component comprising monomers, wherein the monomers comprise:

butyl acrylate or n-butyl methacrylate, wherein the butyl acrylate or n-butyl methacrylate is between 35% to 45% of the first component,

phenylethyl acrylate or phenylethyl methacrylate, and wherein the phenylethyl acrylate or the phenylethyl methacrylate is between 20% to 40% of the first component,

trifluoroethyl methacrylate, and wherein the trifluoroethyl methacrylate is between 15% to 30% of the first component; and

a second component comprising a reactive acrylic monomer diluent, wherein the second component comprises between 23% to 43% of the adhesive formulation.

8. The adhesive formulation of claim 7 , wherein the first component is a cross-linkable polymer.

9. The adhesive formulation of claim 7 , wherein the first component comprises between 55% to 75% of the adhesive formulation.
