Abstract

A system includes a cartridge having an elongate body extending from a first end to a second end and having a top side and a bottom side. The cartridge defines a first hole adjacent to the first end that extends through the cartridge from the bottom side to the top side. The top side of the cartridge defines a pair of parallel slots that extend perpendicular with respect to a longitudinal axis of the cartridge. Each slot of the pair of parallel slots is equidistant from a central axis defined by the first hole.

Claims (24)

1. A surgical system, comprising:

a cartridge having an elongate body extending from a first end to a second end and having a top side and a bottom side, the cartridge defining a first tapered hole adjacent to the first end that extends through the cartridge from a first diameter at the bottom side to a second diameter at a location between the bottom side and the top side, wherein the first diameter is greater than the second diameter; and

a second hole inwardly extending from the second end, wherein the top side of the cartridge defines a pair of parallel slots extending perpendicular with respect to a longitudinal axis of the cartridge, wherein each slot of the pair of parallel slots is equidistant from a central axis defined by the first hole; and

a mount having a hollow interior that is accessible through an aperture, the mount including an engagement structure extending from a side of the mount, the engagement structure having a bone engaging surface that is topographically complementary to a portion of a bone, wherein the cartridge is sized and configured to be received within the hollow interior of the mount through the aperture defined by a first side of the surgical mount.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second hole defined by the cartridge is a blind, threaded hole.

3. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a mounting plate sized and configured to be mated to the mount, the mounting plate;

a foot holder assembly including a base plate and a rod extending from the base plate such that the mounting plate may be slideably coupled to the rod; and

a pivoting knob for securing the mounting plate to the foot holder assembly.

4. The system of claim 3 , further comprising a drill bushing removeably coupled to the base plate.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the base plate supports the drill bushing at least at two locations.

6. A surgical system, comprising:

a first body defining a first opening;

a second body defining a hollow interior and having a first side defining a second opening, the second body being sized and configured to engage the first body such that the second opening aligns with the first opening; and

an elongate third body extending from a first end to a second end and having a top side and a bottom side, the third body defining a first hole adjacent to the first end that extends through a cartridge from a bottom side to a top side,

wherein the third body receives within the first opening defined by the first body, the second opening defined by the second body, and the hollow interior of the second body when the first and second bodies are operatively coupled to one another.

7. The surgical system of claim 6 , wherein the top side of the third body defines a pair of parallel slots extending perpendicular with respect to a longitudinal axis of the third body, wherein each slot of the pair of parallel slots is equidistant from a central axis defined by the first hole.

8. The surgical system of claim 6 , comprising:

a rod disposed on the first body and a fourth body including:

a base plate having a rod and a mounting member that is slideably coupled to the base plate rod, the mounting member defining a slot for receiving the first body rod.

9. The surgical system of claim 8 , wherein the base plate is configured to receive a drill bushing.

10. A surgical system, comprising:

a cartridge having an elongate body extending from a first end to a second end and having a top side and a bottom side, the cartridge defining a first hole adjacent to the first end that extends through the cartridge from the bottom side to the top side, and the top side of the cartridge defining a pair of parallel slots extending perpendicular with respect to a longitudinal axis of the cartridge, wherein each slot of the pair of parallel slots is equidistant from a central axis defined by the first hole; and

a mount having a hollow interior that is accessible through an aperture, the mount including an engagement structure extending from a side of the mount, the engagement structure having a bone engaging surface that is topographically complementary to a portion of a bone, wherein the cartridge is sized and configured to be received within the hollow interior of the mount through the aperture defined by a first side of the surgical mount.
