Abstract

Trusted, privacy-protected systems and methods are disclosed for processing, handling, and performing tests on human genomic and other information. According to some embodiments, a system is disclosed that is a cloud-based system for the trusted storage and analysis of genetic and other information. Some embodiments of the system may include or support some or all of authenticated and certified data sources; authenticated and certified diagnostic tests; and policy-based access to data.

Claims (26)

1. A method for performing trusted operations on genomic data performed by a trusted data analysis system comprising a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the trusted data analysis system to perform the method, the method comprising:

receiving, from a requesting system, a diagnostic test request, the diagnostic test request comprising at least one sequence data object, one or more test parameters, and one or more digital signatures;

authenticating the at least one sequence data object using at least one digital signature of the one or more digital signatures;

selecting one or more virtual diagnostic tests from a plurality of virtual diagnostic tests based, at least in part, on the one or more test parameters included in the diagnostic test request;

executing one or more test algorithms associated with the one or more selected virtual diagnostic tests using the at least one sequence data object to generate one or more test algorithm outputs;

packaging the one or more test algorithm outputs into a diagnostic test response; and

sending the diagnostic test response to the requesting system.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more digital signatures comprise a signature generated using a private key associated with a sequencer device that generated the at least one sequence data object.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the private key comprises a private key associated with a manufacturer of the sequencer device.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more digital signatures comprise a signature generated using a private key associated with an organization that generated the at least one sequence data object.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the organization comprises a laboratory.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more digital signatures comprise a signature generated using a private key associated with a requestor that issued the diagnostic test request.

7. The method of claim 1 , where the one or more parameters comprise at least one parameter relating to one or more specified digital signatures associated with candidate virtual diagnostic tests.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein selecting the one or more virtual diagnostic tests from the plurality of virtual diagnostic tests comprises:

verifying that the one or more selected virtual diagnostic tests are associated with at least one of the one or more specified digital signatures.

9. The method of claim 7 , where the one or more specified digital signatures comprise one or more of a digital signature associated with a creator of a virtual diagnostic test, an organization associated with a virtual diagnostic test, and a certification authority.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises authenticating, prior to executing the one or more test algorithms, the one or more selected virtual diagnostic tests.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein authenticating the one or more selected virtual diagnostic tests comprises verifying at least one digital signature associated the one or more selected virtual diagnostic tests.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the at least one verified digital signature comprises one or more of a digital signature associated with a creator of a virtual diagnostic test, an organization associated with a virtual diagnostic test, and a certification authority.

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more parameters comprise at least one parameter relating to a cost associated with candidate virtual diagnostic tests.

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises decrypting the at least one sequence data object received in the diagnostic test request.

15. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises verifying one or more permissions associated with the one or more selected virtual diagnostic tests.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein verifying the one or more permissions comprises determining that an identity associated with the one or more digital signatures is permitted to perform the one or more selected virtual diagnostic tests.

17. The method of claim 1 , where the method further comprises generating an audit record.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the audit record comprises a cryptographic hash of one or more of the sequence data object, the one or more selected virtual diagnostic tests, a timestamp, and the diagnostic test response.

19. The method of claim 1 , wherein the sequence data object comprises genomic sequence information.
