Abstract

Embodiments of the present invention provide methods for the treatment or prevention of infection-related immune conditions using compositions comprising IgM.

53 . A composition comprising IgM.

54 . The composition according to claim 53 , characterized in that the composition used has at least 90% (w/v) of IgM purity.

55 . The composition according to claim 53 , characterized in that the composition has a 95% (w/v) of IgM purity.

56 . The composition according to claim 53 , characterized in that IgM is recombinant.

57 . The composition according to claim 53 , characterized in that IgM is plasma-derived.

58 . The composition according to claim 53 , characterized in that IgM is cell culture-derived.

59 . The composition according to claim 53 , characterized in that IgM is transgenic.

60 . The composition according to claim 53 , characterized in that IgM is or chemically synthesized.

61 . The composition according to claim 57 , wherein IgM is plasma-derived IgM and is isolated from a suitable fraction of plasma.

62 . The composition according to claim 53 , characterized in that the composition further comprises one or more anti-inflammatory molecules, small molecule antibiotics, molecules that are antimicrobial in nature, natural or synthetic peptide antimicrobials, proteins with antimicrobial properties, other immunomodulators or combinations thereof.

63 . The composition according to claim 62 , hat the composition further comprises vancomycin, meropenem, lactoferrin or combinations thereof.
