Abstract

A wireless device receives radio resource control (RRC) message(s) comprising configuration parameters of: a measurement object of a carrier. The measurement object indicates one or more reference signals. The RRC message(s) comprise a measurement report associated with the measurement object. The RRC message(s) comprise one or more conditions to initiate, based on the measurement object, a first measurement of a signal quality of the one or more reference signals. A determination is made of whether one or more conditions are met. In response to the determination indicating that the one or more conditions are met, the first measurement of a signal quality of the one or more reference signals is initiated. The signal quality based on the measurement report transmit.

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device, one or more radio resource control (RRC) messages comprising configuration parameters of:

a measurement object of a carrier, the measurement object indicating one or more reference signals;

a measurement report associated with the measurement object; and

one or more conditions to initiate, based on the measurement object, a first measurement of a signal quality of the one or more reference signals;

receiving one or more second RRC messages comprising second configuration parameters of:

one or more second measurement objects;

a first threshold value to be applied based on a signal quality of a primary cell; and

a second threshold value based on the signal quality of the primary cell;

determining if the one or more conditions are met;

in response to the determining indicating that the one or more conditions are met and based on the signal quality of the primary cell being lower than or equal to the first threshold value and the signal quality of the primary cell being higher than the second threshold value:

initiating the first measurement based on the measurement object; and

skipping a second measurement based on the one or more second measurement objects; and

transmitting the signal quality based on the measurement report.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, based on the signal quality of the primary cell being lower than or equal to the second threshold value:

continuing the first measurement, based on the measurement object; and

initiating the second measurement based on one or more second measurement objects.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving one or more medium access control-control elements (MAC-CEs) indicating:

an activation of the measurement object; or

a deactivation of the measurement object.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the one or more conditions are met when the one or more MAC CEs indicate the activation of the measurement object.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the one or more conditions are met comprises determining, based on a signal quality threshold of a second carrier, that a signal quality of the second carrier becomes better than the signal quality threshold.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the one or more conditions are met comprises determining, based on a region, that a location of the wireless device belongs to the region.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the one or more conditions are met comprises determining, that a power state changes to a normal state from:

a dormant state; or

a power saving state.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining the one or more conditions are not met to stop the first measurement based on the measurement object.

9. A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive, one or more radio resource control (RRC) messages comprising configuration parameters of:

a measurement object of a carrier, the measurement object indicating one or more reference signals;

a measurement report associated with the measurement object; and

one or more conditions to initiate, based on the measurement object, a first measurement of a signal quality of the one or more reference signals;

receive one or more second RRC messages comprising second configuration parameters of:

one or more second measurement objects;

a first threshold value to be applied based on a signal quality of a primary cell; and

a second threshold value based on the signal quality of the primary cell; determine if the one or more conditions are met;

in response to the determination indicating that the one or more conditions are met and based on the signal quality of the primary cell being lower than or equal to the first threshold value and the signal quality of the primary cell being higher than the second threshold value:

initiate the first measurement based on the measurement object; and

skip a second measurement based on the one or more second measurement objects; and

transmit the signal quality based on the measurement report.

10. The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to, based on the signal quality of the primary cell being lower than or equal to the second threshold value:

continue the first measurement, based on the measurement object; and

initiate the second measurement based on one or more second measurement objects.

11. The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive one or more medium access control-control elements (MAC-CEs) indicating an:

an activation of the measurement object; or

a deactivation of the measurement object.

12. The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the one or more conditions are met when the one or more MAC CEs indicate the activation of the measurement object.

13. The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the determination of the one or more conditions are met comprises determining, based on a signal quality threshold of a second carrier, that a signal quality of the second carrier becomes better than the signal quality threshold.

14. The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the determination of the one or more conditions are met comprises determining, based on a region, that a location of the wireless device belongs to the region.

15. The wireless device of claim 9 , wherein the determination of the one or more conditions are met comprises determining, that a power state changes to a normal state from:

a dormant state; or

a power saving state.

16. A system comprising:

a base station comprising:

one or more first processors; and

first memory storing first instructions that, when executed by the one or more first processors, cause the base station to transmit:

one or more radio resource control (RRC) messages comprising configuration parameters of:

a measurement object of a carrier, the measurement object indicating one or more reference signals;

a measurement report associated with the measurement object;

one or more conditions to initiate, based on the measurement object, a first measurement of a signal quality of the one or more reference signals; and
