Abstract

A method for driving a display device includes stopping a display operation of a display based on a presence or absence of a signal indicating an off operation of a main power switch of the display. The method further includes applying a recovery voltage across a gate and source of a driving transistor in the display based on a threshold voltage shift of the driving transistor. The threshold voltage shift is determined during a stopped state of the display operation of the display. The stopped state of the display operation of the display occurs prior to starting the display operation of the display.

Claims (30)

1. A method for driving a display device including

a display in which a plurality of light-emitting pixels are disposed in rows and columns, each of the plurality of light-emitting pixels including a light emitter, and

a drive transistor which supplies the light emitter with a current that causes the light emitter to emit light, the method for driving the display device comprising:

stopping a display operation of the display based on a presence or absence of a signal indicating an off operation of a main power switch of the display; and

applying a recovery voltage across a gate and source of the driving transistor determined based on a threshold voltage shift of the driving transistor, the threshold voltage shift being determined during a stopped state of the display operation of the display, and the stopped state of the display operation of the display occurring prior to starting the display operation of the display.

2. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising

determining, based on the threshold voltage shift, an application period during which the recovery voltage is applied.

3. The method according to claim 2 , further comprising

applying a predetermined voltage across the gate and source of the drive transistor to suppress variation in a threshold voltage after the application period elapses.

4. The method according to claim 2 , further comprising

detecting, by a monitoring circuit, a person in proximity to the display,

wherein the application period is changed while the display operation by the display is stopped when the monitoring circuit detects a person.

5. The method according to claim 1 , wherein

the threshold voltage shift is based on a history of a voltage applied across the gate and source of the drive transistor.

6. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising

measuring the threshold voltage shift.

7. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising

changing the recovery voltage while the display operation by the display is stopped.

8. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising

when the display operation by the display is stopped,

estimating a stop period during which the display operation is maintained in the stopped state, and

determining, based on the estimated stop period, an application period during which the recovery voltage is applied.

9. The method according to claim 8 , wherein

the recovery voltage is determined based on the application period and the threshold voltage shift.

10. The method according to claim 1 , further comprising

applying the recovery voltage to a corresponding one of the plurality of light-emitting pixels.

11. The method according to claim 1 , wherein

the recovery voltage is applied prior to the starting of the display operation of the display.

12. The method according to claim 1 , wherein

the recovery voltage is applied during the stopped state of the display operation of the display.
