Abstract

Methods, apparatus, and systems for performing an ophthalmic diagnostic test are disclosed. In one aspect, a head-wearable device for administering an ophthalmic test to a subject can comprise a head-wearable frame for mounting the device onto the subject's head, and a light seal configured for coupling to the frame so as to isolate at least one eye of the subject from ambient light when the device is worn by the subject.

Claims (22)

1 . A light seal for use in a head-wearable testing and measurement device, the light seal comprising:

a conformable body configured to be coupled to a frame of the head-wearable device, the conformable body being configured such that, when worn by a test subject, a combination of the conformable body and the head-wearable ophthalmic testing and measurement device isolates at least one eye of the test subject from ambient light; and

at least one opening configured to be aligned with the at least one eye of a test subject when the head-wearable ophthalmic testing and measurement device is worn by the test subject.

2 . The light seal of claim 1 , wherein the conformable body is configured to isolate one eye of the test subject from ambient light independent of other eye of the test subject.

3 . The light seal of claim 1 , wherein the conformable body comprises a cup-shaped configuration.

4 . The light seal of claim 1 , further comprising at least one other opening configured to surround an interface on the head-wearable testing and measurement device.

5 . The light seal of claim 1 , further comprising one or more sensors configured to detect leakage of the ambient light through the light seal.

6 . The light seal of claim 5 , wherein the one or more sensors are configured to measure intensity of leaked ambient light through the light seal.

7 . The light seal of claim 1 , wherein the light seal comprises a polymeric material.

8 . The light seal of claim 7 , wherein the polymeric material comprises at least one of:

silicone, polyurethane, neoprene, polyolefin, nitrile rubber, ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polylactic acid (PLA).

9 . The light seal of claim 1 , wherein the light seal comprises a plurality of fibers.

10 . The light seal of claim 9 , wherein the plurality of fibers comprise cellulose fibers.

11 . The light seal of claim 1 , wherein the light seal comprises a foamed material.

12 . The light seal of claim 11 , wherein the foamed material comprises at least one of alginate foam and starch-based foam.

13 . The light seal of claim 1 , further comprising an radio frequency identification (RFID) tag.

14 . The light seal of claim 13 , wherein the RFID tag is configured for use in ensuring authenticity of the light seal.

15 . The light seal of claim 1 , further comprising at least one mating feature on the conformable body for use in coupling the light seal to corresponding coupling features on the frame of the head-wearable device.

16 . The light seal of claim 1 , further comprising one or more sensors disposed in at least one facial contact point area of the conformable body, the one or more sensor being configured to assess proper placement of the light seal and the head-wearable device against face of the test subject.

17 . The light seal of claim 16 , wherein the one or more sensors comprise at least one of: a pressure sensor and a capacitive touch sensor.

18 . The light seal of claim 1 , wherein the light seal is configured to seal both eyes of the test subject.

19 . The light seal of claim 1 , wherein the conformable body is configured to be removably and replaceably coupled to a frame of the head-wearable device.
