Abstract

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed for a broadcast profiling system. An example method includes comparing a preference included in a user profile with a portion of a content station profile to determine whether the preference satisfies a threshold difference from the portion of the content station profile, the content station profile including (1) a first characteristic of first broadcast data associated with a first time context and a first count associated with first identifying information and (2) a second characteristic of second broadcast data associated with a second time context and a second count associated with second identifying information; in response to the threshold difference being satisfied, generating a station recommendation for a user associated with the user profile; and transmitting an instruction associated with the user, the instruction including the station recommendation, the instruction configured to cause a radio pre-set to be adjusted.

Claims (39)

1. An apparatus comprising:

a memory storing instructions; and

a processor configured to execute the instructions stored in the memory to:

compare a preference included in a user profile with a portion of a content station profile to determine whether the preference included in the user profile satisfies a threshold difference from the portion of the content station profile, the content station profile including (1) a first characteristic of first broadcast data associated with a first time context and a first count associated with first identifying information and (2) a second characteristic of second broadcast data associated with a second time context and a second count associated with second identifying information;

in response to the threshold difference being satisfied, generate a station recommendation for a user associated with the user profile; and

transmit an instruction to a device associated with the user, the instruction including the station recommendation, the instruction configured to cause a radio pre-set to be adjusted.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first characteristic is at least one of a first genre, a first era, or a first mood of the first broadcast data, and wherein the second characteristic is at least one of a second genre, a second era, or a second mood of the second broadcast data.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to detect a change in content in the first broadcast data or the second broadcast data in response to a change from a first song to a second song.

4. The apparatus of claim 3 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the processor to:

determine at least one of a time, season, or holiday associated with the change; and

store the at least one of the time, season, or holiday associated with the change in the content station profile.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first broadcast data and the second broadcast data are received at a server computer from a listening station.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first identifying information associated with the first broadcast data includes at least one of: a song identifier, a track unique identifier, a track title, an album title, and an artist name.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first time context or the second time context includes at least one of (a) an hour of a day, (b) a day of a week, or (c) a month of a year.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions stored thereon that are executable by at least one processor to cause a computing device to:

compare a preference included in a user profile with a portion of a content station profile to determine whether the preference included in the user profile satisfies a threshold difference from the portion of the content station profile, the content station profile including (1) a first characteristic of first broadcast data associated with a first time context and a first count associated with first identifying information and (2) a second characteristic of second broadcast data associated with a second time context and a second count associated with second identifying information;

in response to the threshold difference being satisfied, generate a station recommendation for a user associated with the user profile; and

transmit an instruction to a device associated with the user, the instruction including the station recommendation, the instruction configured to cause a radio pre-set to be adjusted.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the first characteristic is at least one of a first genre, a first era, or a first mood of the first broadcast data, and wherein the second characteristic is at least one of a second genre, a second era, or a second mood of the second broadcast data.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the computing device to detect a change in content in the first broadcast data or the second broadcast data in response to a change from a first song to a second song.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the computing device to:

determine at least one of a time, season, or holiday associated with the change; and

store the at least one of the time, season, or holiday associated with the change in the content station profile.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the first broadcast data and the second broadcast data are received at a server computer from a listening station.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the computing device to:

determine a geographic region in which the user is located; and

determine that a first content station transmits content receivable within the geographic region.

14. A method comprising:

comparing a preference included in a user profile with a portion of a content station profile to determine whether the preference included in the user profile satisfies a threshold difference from the portion of the content station profile, the content station profile including (1) a first characteristic of first broadcast data associated with a first time context and a first count associated with first identifying information and (2) a second characteristic of second broadcast data associated with a second time context and a second count associated with second identifying information;

in response to the threshold difference being satisfied, generating a station recommendation for a user associated with the user profile; and

transmitting an instruction to a device associated with the user, the instruction including the station recommendation, the instruction configured to cause a radio pre-set to be adjusted.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the first characteristic is at least one of a first genre, a first era, or a first mood of the first broadcast data, and wherein the second characteristic is at least one of a second genre, a second era, or a second mood of the second broadcast data.

16. The method of claim 14 , further including detecting a change in content in the first broadcast data or the second broadcast data in response to a change from a first song to a second song.

17. The method of claim 16 , further including:

determining at least one of a time, season, or holiday associated with the change; and

storing the at least one of the time, season, or holiday associated with the change in the content station profile.

18. The method of claim 14 , wherein the first broadcast data and the second broadcast data are received at a server computer from a listening station.

19. The method of claim 14 , wherein the first identifying information associated with the first broadcast data includes at least one of: a song identifier, a track unique identifier, a track title, an album title, and an artist name.

20. The method of claim 14 , wherein the first time context or the second time context includes at least one of (a) an hour of a day, (b) a day of a week, or (c) a month of a year.
