Cleaning device
Methods and apparatus for cleaning a surface with a cleaning device having a body with a handle, a connector, and one or more cleaning heads that are removably attached to the cleaning device. Each cleaning head include a lower surface arranged to contact a surface to be cleaned and a dirt collection chamber permanently attached to the cleaning head. The cleaning head may include a support structure to support the dirt collection chamber and a cleaning sheet. The cleaning head also may include a suction nozzle. At least a portion of the dirt collection chamber may be made of a filter material.
1. A method of using a cleaning device, the cleaning device comprising a vacuum source, a body including a handle, and a connector to removably connect a cleaning head to the device, the method comprising:
attaching a first cleaning head to the connector, the first cleaning head including a first suction opening and a first dirt collection chamber;
operating the device to move dirt through the first suction opening and into the first dirt collection chamber;
removing the first cleaning head from the connector;
disposing of the first cleaning head;
attaching a second cleaning head to the connector, the second cleaning head including a second suction opening and a second dirt collection chamber for the cleaning sheet.
2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein attaching the first cleaning head to the connector comprises causing at least one engagement member on the connector to engage at least one corresponding engagement member on the cleaning head.
3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein removing the first cleaning head from the connector comprises actuating a release mechanism on the connector to release the first cleaning head from the connector.
4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first cleaning head includes a support structure and wherein the first dirt collection chamber is permanently attached to the support structure.
5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first cleaning head includes a first cleaning sheet, and the method further comprises, prior to removing the first cleaning head, applying a cleaning liquid to a surface, and moving the first cleaning sheet across the surface.
6. The apparatus of claim 5 , further comprising, prior to removing the first cleaning head, removing the first cleaning sheet from the first cleaning head.
7. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the first cleaning head is removed with the first cleaning sheet attached thereto.
8. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the first cleaning head is disposed of with the first cleaning sheet attached thereto.
9. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the first suction opening includes a valve that allows dirt to flow into the first dirt collection chamber and that prevents dirt from escaping the first dirt collection chamber.
10. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein first cleaning head includes a filter that allows the vacuum source to apply a vacuum force to the first dirt collection chamber to draw dirt through the first suction opening, while retaining debris within the first dirt collection chamber.
11. A method of using a cleaning device, the cleaning device comprising a body, a handle, a vacuum source, and a connector attached to the body, the method comprising:
attaching a first cleaning head having a first dirt collection chamber to the connector such that the vacuum source is fluidically connected to the first dirt collection chamber;
operating the device to suction dirt from a surface and into the first dirt collection chamber;
removing the first cleaning head and first dirt collection chamber from the connector;
disposing of the first cleaning head and first dirt collection chamber;
attaching a second cleaning head having a second dirt collection chamber to the connector such that the vacuum source is fluidically connected to the second dirt collection chamber.
12. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein attaching the first cleaning head to the connector comprises causing at least one engagement member on the connector to engage at least one corresponding engagement member on the cleaning head.
13. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein removing the first cleaning head and first dirt collection chamber from the connector comprises actuating a release mechanism on the connector to release the first cleaning head and first dirt collection chamber from the connector.
14. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the first cleaning head includes a support structure and wherein the first dirt collection chamber is permanently attached to the support structure.
15. The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the first cleaning head includes a first cleaning sheet, and the method further comprises, prior to removing the first cleaning head and first dirt collection chamber, applying a cleaning liquid to a surface, and moving the first cleaning sheet across the surface.
16. The apparatus of claim 15 , further comprising, prior to removing the first cleaning head and first dirt collection chamber, removing the first cleaning sheet from the first cleaning head.
17. The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the first cleaning head and first dirt collection chamber are removed with the first cleaning sheet attached thereto.
18. The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the first cleaning head and first dirt collection chamber are disposed of with the first cleaning attached thereto.
19. The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the first dirt collection chamber includes a first suction opening having a valve therein that allows dirt to flow into the first dirt collection chamber and that prevents dirt from escaping the first dirt collection chamber.
20. The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein first cleaning head includes a filter that allows the vacuum source to apply a vacuum force to the first dirt collection chamber to draw dirt into the first dirt collection chamber, while retaining dirt within the first dirt collection chamber.
