Systems and methods for determining mobile device status
Method and system for determining a status of a mobile device of a user are disclosed. For example, the method includes receiving first sensor data at a first time from an application installed on a mobile device of a user, determining a first location of the mobile device, immediately subsequent to receiving the first sensor data at the first time, receiving second sensor data at a second time from the application, the second time following the first time by a time interval, determining a second location of the mobile device, determining a distance between the first location and the second location, determining whether the distance corresponding to the time interval exceeds a predetermined threshold, and determining whether a trip log indicative of at least one trip during the time interval is received from the application.
1. A computer-implemented method for determining a status of a mobile device of a user, the method comprising:
receiving, by a computing device, first sensor data at a first time from an application installed on a mobile device of a user;
determining, by the computing device, a first location of the mobile device based at least in part upon the first sensor data, the first location corresponding to the first time;
immediately subsequent to receiving the first sensor data at the first time, receiving, by the computing device, second sensor data at a second time from the application, the second time following the first time by a time interval;
determining, by the computing device, a second location of the mobile device based at least in part upon the second sensor data, the second location corresponding to the second time;
determining, by the computing device, a distance between the first location and the second location, the distance corresponding to the time interval from the first time to the second time;
determining, by the computing device, whether the distance corresponding to the time interval exceeds a predetermined threshold;
determining, by the computing device, whether a trip log indicative of at least one trip during the time interval is received from the application; and
in response to the distance exceeding the predetermined threshold and in response to the trip log being not received from the application, transmitting, by the computing device, a notification to the user that the mobile device does not work properly for the application.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein the trip log includes third sensor data collected and/or generated during the time interval and indicating the mobile device is located in a moving vehicle during the time interval.
3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the first sensor data, the second sensor data, and the third sensor data are collected and/or generated by one or more sensors of the mobile device of the user.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first sensor data is configured to be transmitted periodically every predetermined time interval.
5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:
in response to the distance exceeding the predetermined threshold and the trip being not recorded between the first time and the second time, updating or adjusting, by the computing device, an amount of insurance discount; and
transmitting, by the computing device, a notification to the mobile device indicating that the amount of insurance discount has been updated or adjusted.
6. The method of claim 2 , wherein each of the first sensor data, the second sensor data, and the third sensor data includes accelerometer data, GPS data, gyroscope data, and/or magnetometer data.
7. The method of claim 2 , wherein the third sensor data is collected and/or generated by the one or more sensors of the mobile device when the mobile device is located in the moving vehicle that is driven by the user.
8. A computing device for determining a status of a mobile device of a user, the computing device comprising:
a processor; and
a memory having a plurality of instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the processor, causes the computing device to:
receive first sensor data at a first time from an application installed on a mobile device of a user;
determine a first location of the mobile device based at least in part upon the first sensor data, the first location corresponding to the first time:
immediately subsequent to receiving the first sensor data at the first time, receive second sensor data at a second time from the application, the second time following the first time by a time interval;
determine a second location of the mobile device based at least in part upon the second sensor data, the second location corresponding to the second time;
determine a distance between the first location and the second location, the distance corresponding to the time interval from the first time to the second time;
determine whether the distance corresponding to the time interval exceeds a predetermined threshold;
determine whether a trip log indicative of at least one trip during the time interval is received from the application; and
in response to the distance exceeding the predetermined threshold and in response to the trip log being not received from the application, transmit a notification to the user that the mobile device does not work properly for the application.
9. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein the trip log includes third sensor data collected and/or generated during the time interval and indicating the mobile device is located in a moving vehicle during the time interval.
10. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the first sensor data, the second sensor data, and the third sensor data are collected and/or generated by one or more sensors of the mobile device of the user.
11. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of instructions, when executed, further cause the computing device to:
in response to the distance exceeding the predetermined threshold and the trip being not recorded between the first time and the second time, update or adjust an amount of insurance discount; and
transmitting, by the computing device, a notification to the mobile device indicating that the amount of insurance discount has been updated or adjusted.
12. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein each of the first sensor data, the second sensor data, and the third sensor data includes accelerometer data, GPS data, gyroscope data, and/or magnetometer data.
13. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the third sensor data is collected and/or generated by the one or more sensors of the mobile device when the mobile device is located in the moving vehicle that is driven by the user.
14. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions for a status of a mobile device of a user, the instructions when executed by one or more processors of a computing device, cause the computing device to:
receive first sensor data at a first time from an application installed on a mobile device of a user;
determine a first location of the mobile device based at least in part upon the first sensor data, the first location corresponding to the first time;
immediately subsequent to receiving the first sensor data at the first time, receive second sensor data at a second time from the application, the second time following the first time by a time interval;
determine a second location of the mobile device based at least in part upon the second sensor data, the second location corresponding to the second time;
determine a distance between the first location and the second location, the distance corresponding to the time interval from the first time to the second time;
determine whether the distance corresponding to the time interval exceeds a predetermined threshold;
determine whether a trip log indicative of at least one trip during the time interval is received from the application; and
in response to the distance exceeding the predetermined threshold and in response to the trip log being not received from the application, transmit a notification to the user that the mobile device does not work properly for the application.
15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the trip log includes third sensor data collected and/or generated during the time interval and indicating the mobile device is located in a moving vehicle during the time interval.
16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the first sensor data, the second sensor data, and the third sensor data are collected and/or generated by one or more sensors of the mobile device of the user.
17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the instructions when executed by the one or more processors further cause the computing device to:
in response to the distance exceeding the predetermined threshold and the trip being not recorded between the first time and the second time, update or adjust an amount of insurance discount; and
transmitting, by the computing device, a notification to the mobile device indicating that the amount of insurance discount has been updated or adjusted.
