Abstract

A platform for a cemetery lowering device comprising a one-piece base, a first beam and a second beam. The one-piece base having a tapered edge, a non-skid surface, and an opening for a casket to be lowered through the base. The first beam attached to the one-piece base on one side of the opening and a second beam attached to the one-piece base on another side of the opening.

Claims (30)

1. A platform for a cemetery lowering device comprising:

a one-piece base having a tapered edge, a non-skid surface, and an opening for a casket to be lowered through the base, said opening having a substantially rectangular shape with first and second sets of opposing sides, the first set of opposing sides being longer than the second set of opposing sides; and

a first beam attached to the one-piece base on one side of the opening defined by the first set of opposing sides and a second beam attached to the one-piece base on the other side of the opening defined by the first set of opposing sides.

2. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 1 , wherein the non-skid surface comprises grooves.

3. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 1 , wherein the one-piece base comprises one or more guides for positioning the cemetery lowering device on the base.

4. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 3 , wherein the one or more guides comprises four pairs of stops attached to a surface of the one-piece base.

5. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 3 , wherein the one or more guides comprise one or more impressions in a surface of the one-piece base.

6. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 1 , wherein:

the one-piece base comprises a first flange around a perimeter of the opening; and

the first flange extends vertically from a top surface of the base for mating with a corresponding flange of a lid of the cemetery lowering device.

7. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 1 , comprising a receptacle configured to mate with an adjustable-height footing.

8. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 7 , wherein the receptacle is threaded such that height adjustments of the adjustable-height footing can be performed by rotating the adjustable-height footing.

9. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 1 , wherein the one-piece base is formed of a single piece of fiberglass.

10. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 1 , wherein the one-piece base is formed of a single piece of metal.

11. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 1 , wherein the one-piece base is formed of a single piece of polymer.

12. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 11 , wherein a bottom surface of the one-piece base comprises a plurality of kiss offs.

13. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 12 , wherein:

a first one or more of the kiss offs are of a first diameters;

a second one or more of the kiss offs are of a second diameter; and

the first diameter is larger than the second diameter.

14. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 12 , wherein a diameter of each of the plurality of kiss offs is a function of a thickness of the one-piece base.

15. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 11 , wherein the first beam is made of metal beam and the second beam is made of metal.

16. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 11 , wherein the first beam is attached to the one-piece base via a first one or more brackets and the second beam is attached to the one-piece base via a second one or more brackets.

17. The platform for a cemetery lowering device of claim 11 , wherein there are channels in a bottom surface of the one-piece base and the first beam and second beam reside in the channels.

18. A platform for a cemetery lowering device comprising:

a one-piece base having a tapered edge, a non-skid surface, an opening for a casket to be lowered through the base, and four pairs of stops attached to a surface of the one-piece base for positioning the cemetery lowering device on the base; and

a first beam attached to the one-piece base on one side of the opening and a second beam attached to the one-piece base on another side of the opening.

19. A platform for a cemetery lowering device comprising:

a one-piece base having a tapered edge, a non-skid surface, an opening for a casket to be lowered through the base, and a first flange around a perimeter of the opening that extends vertically from a top surface of the base for mating with a corresponding flange of a lid of the cemetery lowering device; and

a first beam attached to the one-piece base on one side of the opening and a second beam attached to the one-piece base on another side of the opening.
