Abstract

Described herein is a golf bag with a collapsible pocket assembly. The golf bag can comprise a first pocket, a second pocket, and a third pocket, wherein the third pocket comprises a wall. The third pocket wall can comprise a first region and a second region, wherein the first region of the third pocket wall is the same wall as at least one of the sidewalls of the second pocket. When shipping golf bags, the golf bag flats oftentimes must be shipped separately from the golf bag tops. The instant golf bag can be collapsed for shipping, allowing the golf bag tops to be partially installed onto the golf bag flats prior to shipping, reducing shipping and assembly labor costs.

Claims (60)

1. A golf club bag comprising:

a cavity, a top, a bottom, a front, a back, and an exterior surface;

a first pocket, the first pocket comprising a magnet;

a second pocket, the second pocket comprising a zipper and having a volume;

a third pocket, the third pocket comprising a zipper and a panel;

the first pocket further comprises a lid and a rim wherein the rim follows a periphery of the first pocket lid and comprises the magnet;

the second pocket further comprises a panel and at least one sidewall, wherein the zipper is along the periphery of the second pocket panel;

the third pocket panel comprises a first region and a second region, wherein:

the first region of the third pocket panel overlaps at least one of the sidewalls of the second pocket.

2. The golf bag of claim 1 , wherein

the second pocket and the third pocket comprise an inner lining of one material, and

the second pocket and the third pocket comprise an exterior of a second material, wherein:

the exterior material is different from the inner lining material, and

the inner lining material is more flexible than the exterior material.

3. The golf bag of claim 1 is in a first or second configuration, wherein the first configuration is oriented with the golf bag deployed, wherein the second pocket comprises a height that is fully expanded, and the second configuration is oriented with the golf bag collapsed, wherein the second pocket height it reduced relative to the first configuration's second pocket height.

4. The golf bag of claim 3 , wherein

the golf bag cannot be in the second configuration when the third pocket is not unzipped.

5. The golf bag of claim 3 , wherein:

in the first configuration, the golf bag is in an operational configuration to carry items.

6. The golf bag of claim 3 , wherein:

the second configuration comprises:

an unzipped second pocket panel, wherein the second pocket panel overlaps at least a portion of the first pocket lid, when the first pocket is in a sealed or closed position; and

an unzipped third pocket panel, when the first and second pocket are compressed into the bag cavity by force, wherein a region of the third pocket that extends onto a side of the second pocket collapses thereby folding the first and second pockets into the bag cavity.

7. The golf bag of claim 6 , wherein

the third pocket panel folds over at least a portion of the first and second pockets.

8. The golf bag of claim 7 , wherein

in the second configuration:

the volume of the second pocket is 20%-30% of the volume of the second pocket when in the first configuration.

9. The golf bag of claim 1 , wherein the first pocket is located above the second pocket.

10. A golf club bag comprising:

a cavity, a top, a bottom, a front, a back, and an exterior surface;

a first pocket, the first pocket comprising a zipper;

a second pocket, the second pocket comprising a zipper and having a volume;

a third pocket, the third pocket comprising a zipper and a panel;

the first pocket further comprises a lid, wherein the zipper is along a periphery of the first pocket lid;

the second pocket further comprises a panel and at least one sidewall, wherein the zipper is along a periphery of the second pocket panel;

the third pocket panel further comprises a first region and a second region, wherein:

the first region of the third pocket panel overlaps at least one of the sidewalls of the second pocket.

11. The golf bag of claim 10 , wherein

the second pocket and the third pocket comprise an inner lining of one material, and

the second pocket and the third pocket comprise an exterior of a second material, wherein:

the exterior material is different from the inner lining material, and

the inner lining material is more flexible than the exterior material.

12. The golf bag of claim 10 is in a first or second configuration, wherein the first configuration is oriented with the golf bag deployed, wherein the second pocket comprises a height that is fully expanded, and the second configuration is oriented with the golf bag collapsed, wherein the second pocket height it reduced relative to the first configuration's second pocket height.

13. The golf bag of claim 12 , wherein the golf bag cannot be in the second configuration when the third pocket is not unzipped.

14. The golf bag of claim 12 , wherein:

in the first configuration, the golf bag is in an operational configuration to carry items.

15. The golf bag of claim 12 , wherein:

the second configuration comprises:

an unzipped second pocket panel, wherein the second pocket panel overlaps at least a portion of the first pocket lid, when the first pocket is zipped; and

an unzipped third pocket panel, when the first and second pocket are compressed into the bag cavity by force, wherein a region of the third pocket that extends onto a side of the second pocket collapses thereby folding the first and second pockets into the bag cavity.

16. The golf bag of claim 15 , wherein

the third pocket panel folds over at least a portion of the second pocket.

17. The golf bag of claim 16 , wherein

in the second configuration:

the volume of the second pocket is 20-30% of the volume of the second pocket when in the first configuration.

18. The golf bag of claim 16 , wherein

in the second configuration:

the height of the second pocket is 20-30% of the height of the second pocket when in the first configuration.

19. The golf bag of claim 10 , wherein the first pocket is located above the second pocket.
