Abstract

A computer-implemented system and method to automatically capture weather data during testing. The method includes receiving a selected test to run, wherein the test is associated with a Test Case Execution Record (TCER). The method further includes running the test. The method also includes determining, in response to starting the test, a set of weather data. The method includes storing the set of weather data in a first database, wherein the stored weather data is unalterable. The method further includes receiving a set of results for the test. The method also includes storing the set of results in a second database. Further aspects of the present disclosure are directed to systems and computer program products containing functionality consistent with the method described above.

Claims (51)

1. A method for automatically capturing weather data during testing comprising:

receiving a selected outdoor only test to run, wherein the test is associated with a Test Case Execution Record (TCER), the TCER defines a set of weather data and a set of results to be captured during execution of the test, and the test is run outdoors;

running the test outdoors;

obtaining, in response to starting the test and during the running of the test, the set of weather data, wherein the set of weather data is based on the selected test and the TCER;

storing the set of weather data in a first database, wherein the first database is a decentralized database, and utilizes a blockchain including multiple peer nodes that communicate with each other, when the decentralized database including an append-only immutable data structure that makes data stored in the blockchain immutable without reaching a consensus among the multiple peer nodes and the stored weather data is immutable and auditable;

receiving the set of results for the test, wherein the set of weather data from the first database is viewed as a link in the set of results and the link is configured to generate an output that displays the set of weather data with the set of results; and

storing the set of results with the link in a second database.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of weather data are determined utilizing a weather applications application programming interface (API).

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

providing a location to the weather application API based on a test location.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the location is received from a Global Positioning System (GPS).

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of weather data is stored in a first block of the blockchain.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising:

determining one or more additional sets of weather data periodically while running the test; and

storing the one or more additional sets of weather data in the first database.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein each of the one or more additional sets of weather data is stored in one or more separate blocks of the blockchain, and each separate block containing the one or more additional sets of weather data is linked to a previous block of the separate blocks.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein each of the one or more additional sets of weather data is determined at a predefined interval.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: providing a reference from the set of results in the second database to the set of weather data in the first database.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

providing a user interface allowing a user to select options for running the test and receiving the selected options; and

providing a weather interface for capturing the set of weather data.

11. A system configured to automatically capture weather data during testing comprising:

a processor; and

a computer-readable storage medium communicatively coupled to the processor and storing program instructions which, when executed by the processor, are configured to cause the processor to:

select an outdoor only test to run, wherein the test is associated with a Test Case Execution Record (TCER), the TCER defines a set of weather data and a set of results to be captured during execution of the test, and the test is run outdoors;

running the test outdoors;

obtain, in response to running the test and during the running the test, the set of weather data, wherein the set of weather data is based on the selected test;

store the set of weather data in a first database, wherein the first database is a decentralized database, and utilizes a blockchain including multiple peer nodes that communicate with each other, when the decentralized database including an append-only immutable data structure that makes data stored in the blockchain immutable without reaching a consensus among the multiple peer nodes and the stored weather data is immutable and auditable;

receive the set of results for the test, wherein the set of weather data from the first database is viewed as a link in the set of results and the link is configured to generate an output that displays the set of weather data with the set of results; and

store the set of results with the link in a second database.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the set of weather data are determined utilizing a weather applications application programming interface (API).

13. The system of claim 12 , wherein the program instruction are further configured to cause the processor to:

provide a location to the weather application API based on a test location.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the set of weather data is stored in a first block of the blockchain.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the program instruction are further configured to cause the processor to:

determine one or more additions sets of weather data periodically while running the test; and

store the one or more additional sets of weather data in the first database.

16. A computer program product, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program instructions embodied therewith, the program instructions executable by a processing unit to cause the processing unit to:

select an outdoor only test to run, wherein the test is associated with a Test Case Execution Record (TCER), the TCER defines a set of weather data and a set of results to be captured during execution of the test, and the test is run outdoors;

running the test outdoors;

obtain, in response to running the test and during the running the test, a set of weather data, wherein the set of weather data is determined based on the selected test;

store the set of weather data in a first database, wherein the first database is a decentralized database, and utilizes a blockchain including multiple peer nodes that communicate with each other, when the decentralized database including an append-only immutable data structure that makes data stored in the blockchain immutable without reaching a consensus among the multiple peer nodes and the stored weather data is immutable and auditable;

receive the set of results for the test, wherein the set of weather data from the first database is viewed as a link in the set of results and the link is configured to generate an output that displays the set of weather data with the set of results; and

store the set of results with the link in a second database.

17. The computer program product of claim 16 , wherein the set of weather data are determined utilizing a weather applications application programming interface (API).

18. The computer program product of claim 17 , wherein the program instructions further cause the processing unit to:

provide a location to the weather application API based on a test location.

19. The computer program product of claim 18 , wherein the set of weather data is stored in a first block of the blockchain.

20. The computer program product of claim 19 , wherein the program instructions further cause the processing unit to:

determine one or more additional sets of weather data periodically while running the test; and

store the one or more additional sets of weather data in the first database.
