Abstract

The mixing apparatus includes a first container, wherein the first container comprises: a first port; and a mixing chamber. The mixing apparatus further includes a second container where the second container is adapted to receive the first container, and a seal disposed between the first container and the second container. In addition, the mixing apparatus includes a channel between the first port and the mixing chamber, where the channel is defined by the seal and the first container. In some examples, the seal includes: a first seal portion; and a transition seal portion, the transition portion includes a seal split; and an air intake channel.

Claims (28)

1. A mixing apparatus comprising:

a first wall portion comprising a mixing chamber for mixing milk with steam and/or air;

a second wall portion, adapted to receive the first wall portion and comprising a third port that in assembled condition is connected to the mixing chamber as an outlet port of the mixing chamber;

a seal disposed between the first wall portion and the second wall portion, wherein the seal comprises:

a first sealing member disposed between the mixing chamber and the third port; and

a transition seal portion to allow milk with steam and/or air to enter the mixing chamber, the transition seal portion comprising:

a seal split to facilitate a movement of milk, and steam and/or air from a channel, wherein the channel is connected to the mixing chamber and the seal split; and

an air intake channel,

wherein the channel is defined by the first wall portion or the second wall portion and the transition seal portion.

2. The mixing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the air intake channel defines an air flow from the air surrounding the mixing apparatus to the mixing chamber.

3. The mixing apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the air intake channel imparts a Venturi effect on the air flow.

4. The mixing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first sealing member comprises a radial seal.

5. The mixing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the seal further comprises a first sealing portion which defines a milk introduction passageway.

6. The mixing apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the seal further comprises a second sealing portion which comprises a first seal port for the introduction of steam.

7. The mixing apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the transition seal portion is disposed between the first sealing member and the second sealing portion.

8. The mixing apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the first sealing portion and the second sealing portion comprise span seals.

9. The mixing apparatus of claim 8 , wherein at least one of the: span seal thickness, shore hardness, and span width of the first sealing portion and the second sealing portion are different to each other.

10. The mixing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first wall portion further comprises a first port, and wherein the channel connects the first port to the mixing chamber.

11. The mixing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the channel comprises:

a first channel portion for the introduction of milk; and

a second channel portion for the introduction of steam.

12. The mixing apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the second channel portion is adapted to receive steam by way of a first seal port, and wherein the first channel portion is adapted to receive milk by way of a first port of the first wall portion.

13. The mixing apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the channel further comprises a third channel portion adapted to receive the milk and the steam from the first channel portion and the second channel portion, respectively.

14. The mixing apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the third channel portion is adapted to impart a Venturi effect on the received milk and steam.

15. The mixing apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the seal further comprises a raised seal portion which define the channel in combination with the first wall portion to clean the first wall portion.

16. A coffee maker, the coffee maker comprising:

a liquid coffee extraction apparatus; and

the mixing apparatus of claim 1 .
