Abstract

A communication unit for implementing an operation for CIoT in 5GS and a communication unit for mapping a connection associated with the function for CIoT to an appropriate connection in a handover between the 5GS and EPS are provided. Even in the 5GS supporting a network slice, a communication unit for allowing the operation for CIoT to be used is provided. Furthermore, a communication unit for mapping a PDN connection associated with the operation for CIoT and established in the EPS to an appropriate PDU session in a handover of user equipment from the EPS to the 5GS is provided. Furthermore, a communication unit for mapping a PDU session established in the 5GS to an appropriate PDN connection in the handover of the user equipment from the 5GS to the EPS is provided.

Claims (54)

1. A User Equipment (UE), comprising:

a controller;

a transmission and reception circuitry; and

a storage,

wherein the transmission and reception circuitry is configured to:

in a registration procedure,

transmit a registration request message to a core network; and

receive a registration accept message from the core network,

the registration request message includes first information indicating whether the UE supports control plane Cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) 5G System (5GS) optimization or not,

the registration accept message includes second information indicating whether the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization is supported by the core network or not, and

the transmission and reception circuitry is configured to:

in a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session establishment procedure,

include a header compression configuration information element (IE) in a PDU session establishment request message in a case that the UE indicates that the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization is supported in the registration request message; and

transmit, to the core network, a Non-Access-Stratum (NAS) message including the PDU session establishment request message.

2. The UE according to claim 1 ,

wherein, in the PDU session establishment procedure, the controller establishes a PDU session in which a header compression for the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization can be used.

3. The UE according to claim 2 ,

wherein, after receiving the second information, the controller invokes a service request procedure for establishing a user plane radio bearer of the PDU session.

4. The UE according to claim 1 ,

wherein, after receiving the second information, the controller invokes a service request procedure for establishing a user plane radio bearer of a PDU session.

5. The UE according to claim 1 ,

wherein the transmission and reception circuitry is configured to include the header compression configuration IE in the PDU session establishment request message in a case of receiving the registration accept message including the second information indicating that the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization is supported by the core network.

6. A communication control method performed by a User Equipment (UE), the communication control method comprising:

in a registration procedure,

transmitting a registration request message to a core network; and

receiving a registration accept message from the core network,

wherein

the registration request message includes first information indicating whether the UE supports control plane Cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) 5G System (5GS) optimization or not, and

the registration accept message includes second information indicating whether the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization is supported by the core network or not; and

in a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session establishment procedure,

including a header compression configuration information element (IE) in a PDU session establishment request message in a case that the UE indicates that the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization is supported in the registration request message, and

transmitting, to the core network, a Non-Access-Stratum (NAS) message including the PDU session establishment request message.

7. The communication control method according to claim 6 , the communication control method further comprising:

in the PDU session establishment procedure, establishing a PDU session in which a header compression for the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization can be used.

8. The communication control method according to claim 7 , the communication control method further comprising:

after receiving the second information, invoking a service request procedure for establishing a user plane radio bearer of the PDU session.

9. The communication control method according to claim 6 , the communication control method further comprising:

after receiving the second information, invoking a service request procedure for establishing a user plane radio bearer of a PDU session.

10. The communication control method according to claim 6 , the communication control method further comprising:

including the header compression configuration IE in the PDU session establishment request message in a case of receiving the registration accept message including the second information indicating that the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization is supported by the core network.

11. A core network apparatus comprising:

a controller;

a transmission and reception circuitry; and

a storage,

wherein the transmission and reception circuitry is configured to:

in a registration procedure,

receive a registration request message from a User Equipment (UE); and

transmit a registration accept message to the UE,

the registration request message includes first information indicating whether the UE supports control plane Cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) 5G System (5GS) optimization or not,

the registration accept message includes second information indicating whether the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization is supported by a core network or not, and

the transmission and reception circuitry is configured to:

in a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session establishment procedure,

receive, from the UE, a Non-Access-Stratum (NAS) message including a PDU session establishment request message, and

wherein the PDU session establishment request message includes a header compression configuration information element (IE) in a case that the UE indicates that the control plane CIoT 5GS optimization is supported in the registration request message.
