Abstract

A method includes receiving, through RRC signaling from a base station, indicating a dormancy cell group having at least a first serving cell and a second serving cell, receiving a first indicator indicating a dormant behavior to the first serving cell is to be activated when the first serving cell is activated, receiving a second indicator indicating a dormant behavior to the second serving cell is to be deactivated when the second serving cell is activated. The method also includes receiving a cell activation indication to activate the first serving cell and the second serving cell, activating the first serving cell and the second serving cell, applying the dormant behavior to the first serving cell based on the first indicator when the first serving cell is activated, and not applying the dormant behavior to the second serving cell based on the second indicator when the second serving cell is activated.

Claims (46)

1. A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) configured with a plurality of serving cells, the method comprising:

receiving, through Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling from a Base Station (BS), an indication indicating a dormancy cell group having at least a first serving cell and a second serving cell of the plurality of serving cells;

receiving, from the BS, a first indicator indicating to the UE that a dormant behavior applicable to the first serving cell of the dormancy cell group is to be activated when the first serving cell is activated, the dormant behavior including stopping monitoring a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) of the first serving cell;

receiving, from the BS, a second indicator indicating to the UE that a dormant behavior applicable to the second serving cell of the dormancy cell group is to be deactivated when the second serving cell is activated, the dormant behavior including stopping monitoring a PDCCH of the second serving cell;

receiving, through Media Access Control (MAC) signaling from the BS, a cell activation indication to activate the first serving cell and the second serving cell;

activating the first serving cell and the second serving cell based on the cell activation indication;

applying the dormant behavior to the first serving cell based on the first indicator when the first serving cell is activated;

not applying the dormant behavior to the second serving cell based on the second indicator when the second serving cell is activated;

receiving, through Physical Layer (PHY) signaling from the BS, a signal associated with a specific Downlink Control Information (DCI) format indicating a group dormant behavior applicable to all serving cells in the dormancy cell group, wherein the signal indicates the group dormant behavior via a single bit;

applying the dormant behavior to the first serving cell and the second serving cell when the signal indicates that the group dormant behavior is to be activated; and

not applying the dormant behavior to the first serving cell and the second serving cell when the signal indicates that the group dormant behavior is to be deactivated.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first indicator and the second indicator each indicates an initial dormant behavior to be activated or deactivated when the corresponding first and second serving cells are activated.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving, from the BS, a wake up signal indicating a group dormant behavior of the dormancy cell group, the wake up signal further including power saving information;

applying the dormant behavior to the first serving cell and the second serving cell when the wake up signal indicates that the group dormant behavior of the dormancy cell group is to be activated; and

not applying the dormant behavior to the first serving cell and the second serving cell when the wake up signal indicates that the group dormant behavior of the dormancy cell group is to be deactivated.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the power saving information includes a PDCCH monitoring behavior within an on-duration time of a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) mechanism.

5. The method of claim 3 , wherein the wake up signal indicates the group dormant behavior applicable to all serving cells in the dormancy cell group via a single bit.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the dormant behavior further includes at least one of performing Channel State Information (CSI) measurement, performing Automatic Gain Control (AGC), and performing beam management.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the dormant behavior applicable to the first serving cell is applied on an active Bandwidth Part (BWP) of the first serving cell when the first serving cell is activated.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the dormancy cell group includes only serving cells that are Secondary Cells (SCells).

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication indicates, to the UE, a serving cell of the plurality of serving cells belonging to the dormancy cell group via a cell index of the serving cell.

10. A User Equipment (UE) configured with a plurality of serving cells, the UE comprising:

one or more non-transitory computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon;

at least one processor coupled to the one or more non-transitory computer-readable media, and configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to:

receive, through Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling from a Base Station (BS), an indication indicating a dormancy cell group having at least a first serving cell and a second serving cell of the plurality of serving cells;

receive, from the BS, a first indicator indicating to the UE that a dormant behavior applicable to the first serving cell of the dormancy cell group is to be activated when the first serving cell is activated, the dormant behavior including stopping monitoring a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) of the first serving cell;

receive, from the BS, a second indicator indicating to the UE that a dormant behavior applicable to the second serving cell of the dormancy cell group is to be deactivated when the second serving cell is activated, the dormant behavior including stopping monitoring a PDCCH of the second serving cell;

receive, through Media Access Control (MAC) signaling from the BS, a cell activation indication to activate the first serving cell and the second serving cell;

activate the first serving cell and the second serving cell based on the cell activation indication;

apply the dormant behavior to the first serving cell based on the first indicator when the first serving cell is activated;

not apply the dormant behavior to the second serving cell based on the second indicator when the second serving cell is activated;

receive, through Physical Layer (PHY) signaling from the BS, a signal associated with a specific Downlink Control Information (DCI) format indicating a group dormant behavior applicable to all serving cells in the dormancy cell group, wherein the signal indicates the group dormant behavior via a single bit;

apply the dormant behavior to the first serving cell and the second serving cell when the signal indicates that the group dormant behavior is to be activated; and

not apply the dormant behavior to the first serving cell and the second serving cell when the signal indicates that the group dormant behavior is to be deactivated.

11. The UE of claim 10 , wherein the first indicator and the second indicator each indicates an initial dormant behavior to be activated or deactivated when the corresponding first and second serving cells are activated.

12. The UE of claim 10 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to:

receive, from the BS, a wake up signal indicating a group dormant behavior of the dormancy cell group, the wake up signal further including power saving information;

apply the dormant behavior to the first serving cell and the second serving cell when the wake up signal indicates that the group dormant behavior of the dormancy cell group is to be activated; and

not apply the dormant behavior to the first serving cell and the second serving cell when the wake up signal indicates that the group dormant behavior of the dormancy cell group is to be deactivated.
