Abstract

Various embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a Network system including: a connector comprising a housing comprising a groove running widthwise on a surface of the housing; and a push-pull tab comprising a complementary groove, wherein the push-pull tab is detachably connected to the housing; and a receiver device comprising one or more ports for receiving the connector, the one or more ports having an interchangeable anchor device including a first portion and a second portion; wherein the groove is configured to receive the first portion of the interchangeable anchor device when the connector is inserted into the receiving element, and wherein the complimentary groove is configured to receive the second portion of the interchangeable anchor device when the connector is inserted into the receiving element, the push-pull tab being configured to disengage the second portion of the interchangeable anchor device from the complementary groove when the push-pull tab is moved in a direction away from the connector, thereby disengaging the first portion of the interchangeable anchor device from the grove of the connector. Other aspects are described and claimed.

Claims (24)

1. connector comprising:

at least one fiber optic ferrule;

a connector housing comprising:

a plug frame having a top and a bottom, a recess running lengthwise on the top of the plug frame, and a groove running widthwise on the top of the plug frame configured to receive a latching structure of an adapter to connect the connector to the adapter; and

a rear body secured to the plug frame;

a push-pull tab comprising a front portion and a rear portion,

wherein the front portion sits in the recess;

wherein the push-pull tab comprises a complementary groove running widthwise on the front portion, the push-pull tab having a latching position, wherein in the latching position, the groove and the complementary groove are aligned for receiving the latching structure of the adapter, the push-pull tab being movable along the length of the connector housing from the latching position so that the complementary groove moves out of alignment with the groove in the front body thereby moving the latching structure out of the groove to release the connector.

2. The connector of claim 1 , wherein the at least one fiber optic ferrule is a mechanical transfer ferrule.

3. The connector of claim 2 , wherein the rear body is opposite the at least one fiber optic ferrule protruding from a proximal end of the connector housing.

4. The connector of claim 1 , wherein the push-pull tab is removable from the connector housing.

5. The connector of claim 1 , wherein an overall dimensional width of the connector housing is about 7.95 millimeters.

6. The connector of claim 5 , wherein a pitch of the connector is about 3.9 millimeters.

7. The connector of claim 1 , wherein an overall width of the connector is about 10.46 millimeters.

8. The connector of claim 1 , wherein the front portion further comprises a tip, the tip slides within a longitudinal groove, the tip helps ensure the front portion is retained within the groove during use.

The connector of claim 1 , wherein the push-pull tab further comprises opposing side portions, the opposing side portions secure the push-pull tab to the connector housing, the opposing side portions move longitudinally along the connector housing when the push-pull tab is displaced by a user to remove the connector from a receptacle port.

10. The connector of claim 1 , wherein the rear portion further comprises opposing stops, the opposing stops limit a rearward movement of the push-pull tab during removal of the connector from the receptacle port.

11. The connector of claim 1 , wherein the rear portion allows a user to move the push-pull tab along the length of the housing without tools.

12. The connector of claim 1 , further comprising first and second ferrules contained in the housing.

13. The connector of claim 12 , further comprising a spring biasing the first ferrule, the spring engaging the rear body and the first ferrule.

14. The connector of claim 13 , wherein the spring comprises a first spring, the connector further comprising a second spring biasing the second ferrule, the second spring engaging the rear body and the second ferrule.

15. The connector of claim 1 , wherein the push-pull tab is biased to the latching position.

16. The connector of claim 1 , wherein the front body has a front end and the recess extends through the front end of the front body.

17. The connector of claim 1 , wherein the push/pull tab front portion includes a ramp located forward of the complementary groove.
